Imagine how the townspeople felt when the little child pointed out that the Emperor was wearing no clothes.

Many religious people cannot believe that anyone in different than they are. Also many religious people are not secure enough in their faith to explain or understand atheists. I am not an atheist but I acknowledge their right to exist. I've been to some meetings w/ atheists and they spent more time talking about God than the Christians. Many of them have had a bad turn w/ religion and the way it has been practiced.
If you have been bitten by a dog you might be tempted to get rid of the dog and get a goldfish.
Sometimes intellectual pride and a fierce sense of independence leads some to become atheisits. That help?

it has more to do with the people answering such questions.
It flies in the face of their faith if everyone doesn't believe the same. Worse than being a faith they hate. Because they take it as an attack they attack back.
You see atheist say their is no god. And in saying there is no god... never mind my gods or profit is better than yours.... they thing you are calling them stupid for believing in something that doesn't egsites..like an imaginary friend or at 20 believing that Elmo is a real person.
BUT... people who are securer in their faith and themselves find NO need to put someone else down for their belief system or lack of one. They accept everyone's free will and love them for who they are anyway.... that by the way is what Jesus would do.
SMILE.
My great Uncle was a devote Catholic...BUT never forced his believes on others NOR didn't except others right to believe the way they want. Once he did... he didn't come to my wedding. It was not a christian ceremony....in any way shape or form.... nor had anything to do with that god. Anyway.... it was the one thing he regretted. He told his wife on his death bed. He felt very bad for not being there for me, his god daughter. He was repented on his death bed over it. I wish I knew he felt that way... I would have told him it was o.k. I understood... I took no offense. Because he taught me well.

You know ever since the Supreme Court ruled to protect faith-based programs from lawsuits; it seems that there is a movement towards pushing ones beliefs onto those who do not believe. Not sure if this makes sense.
But in any case yes; maybe it has to do with 7/7/07???

Some Christians have decided that evangelism consists of abusing and insulting the opposition. Instead of conducting themselves like St Paul in and attempt to spread the Gospel, they conduct themselves like Anne Coulter or Rush Limbaugh.
They honestly think that if they ridicule the opposition enough, people will turn Christ due to a lack of viable options. They've cast out the Love of Christ in order to accommodate a mocking and derisive attitude towards their fellow man.
This the endless, juvenile mocking damages Christendom and is, frustratingly enough, a major victory for Satan.

Because faulty thinking and buyers remorse prevent these people from being rational. They must destroy anything that does not seem as ridiculous than what they cannot help but believe.
Belief is not a choice, it is a malfunction of the machinery of the brain.

I think for some people, it is just truly next to impossible to comprehend not believing in a God, so they honestly can't process the notion that people really do not believe.
There are some people, though, who will just say things like that because they know it ticks atheists off.

Well you see, atheists (or athiests to some) tend to not believe in god. When questioned why, we usually give the answer "because there is no proof". So they're like, "well you can't prove god doesn't exist! So you can't know he doesn't!". But that's not the point, the point is we don't believe. So they're like "Well, you're not an atheist then, so there!"
And you see, according to their argument, we have to prove God doesn't exist in order for our choice to be valid. Of course since you can't prove or disprove God, what are they thinking? Furthermore, who cares?

I've seen hundreds of questions where we're asked all kinds of questions, most feel like an attack.
I believe that it's because they're intolerant of other religions. In the Christian church, they're taught that Christianity is the only "right" religion. I say this with confidence because my parents go to church every Sunday. They see people who don't believe in God, Atheists, and are completely intolerant that we don't believe in their God. How rude of us?!

It is like a mom saying about her son: "He's not gay; he is just in touch with his feminine side," right after meeting his boyfriend.
Some Xians are saying: "Atheists can't disbelieve in god. They are Christians really, really, really in denial."
The one I like is Xians saying that Pagans (and sometimes even Agnostics) are Atheists because they do not believe in the god of Abraham.
Sorry Xians, YOU do not get to choose someone else's religion!
