FACTS by Michael Newdow. A Scientific "Religion" with rituals and prayers devoted to Science and the world. Has anyone ever heard of it? I'm thinking of looking into it, it sounds kind of fun. Any opinions?

It was started in the 1950's. There's no money involved, no donations required.

This is the belief system:
Basically, we are a religious organization that finds the evidence of any supernatural being to be woefully inadequate. Thus, we deny the existence of any God, and feel that those who have reached the contrary conclusion are deeply misguided. We find that adhering to a religious philosophy based on truth and real evidence is exhilarating, and opens avenues for understanding, cooperation, inquiry and love that are often blocked by religions views based on artificial and false claims. Our faithis in truth, data, reason and the inherent good of mankind.

EvolvedKW: I don't want to herd, nor do I have that mentality. I would like to find a few like minded people that I can talk to about my Ideas.... I'm sick of fighting with everyone all the time. I'm excited about things and I have no one to talk to and share my excitement. Maybe your lucky to have people you can talk to. I on the other hand, am an orphan in Colorado!!

It looks interesting.
-------------------
If you find there's no big fellow in the sky
It's no secret you'll feel better if you try
To understand that praying to some god that's not real
Leads to all the false emotions that you feel

If delusions seem to hang around too long
And your blues keep getting bluer when you're wrong
Well now remember that truth can be found
By having a skeptical eye
So, baby, bear down and question things 'til you die

Scientology, the creation of L.Ron Hubbard, a Science Fiction writer, is a religion based on "science". There is also a group called Christian Scientists that seek truth through both scientific and religious inquiry.

I'm not one to just get up and join a religion. As a matter of fact, it sounds more like a money scam than anything else.

Rituals and prayers to celebrate science.
That's almost both a contradiction to the belief in science, and a mockery of Christianity.

I'm not so sure I trust it.

Why do you feel the need to 'join' something. A free mind is just that, free. It never ceases to amaze me, this herd mentality that so many people have.

I've read about it, and I find parallels with his writings and those of Richard Dawkins. Worth a second look...I don't agree with either, but it is fun to read those with whom I disagree.

I have heard of them.
I am glad they are working to rid the pledge of that awful and untrue phrase.

Well that was inevitable wasn't it? I hope they can get some faith-based government grants too!

Go for it! You will learn something. You will learn things that you agree with and things you don't. It can't hurt, and it may help.

Blessed Be
