Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day in my neighborhood and my 12-year-old friend pushed me into walking to the beach. When I got there a little boy named Casey was having a hard time getting his kite in the air. His cousins had gotten their kites entangled with each other. I hadn't flown one in years, but these were nice ones with string winders. Casey and I had his kite in the air in no time, and with a lesson from me he is now convinced he is a pro. His cousin had a bit tougher time, but I fixed the balance and his was soon up in the air. However, he didn't have 1/4 of the patience of Casey who, for all I know, is still flying his. Now I am hooked. I have been reading up on all the new-fangled kites since yesterday.

Please tell me what your favorites are and where I can get the best deals!

There is one kite which is the king of kites.

It is made from common newsprint and thin slivers of bamboo or reed. I have long loved these fragile beauties, and dreamed if having a village contest sponsored by a newspaper.

So how about an international contest, sponsored by hundreds of newspapers?

I've always loved a brightly colored plain diamond-shaped kite with streamers for a tail! They are so pretty, so simple & a lot of fun. I watch the kite flyers here - we have a group of engineers who get together & MAKE kites - they experiment with everything, every shape & size - then they go to the park once a month (conditions permitting!) & fly!!! So cool!
Kites are very popular & if you have a hobby shop near, I'm sure they will sell them. Good luck, have fun!!!

Try a "Stunt" kite they have two strings with handles and you can direct them back and forth, up and down and the like. You'll need a little more wind to keep it up. The beach is a perfect place because often you will have a nice steady wind. Have fun.

regardless of takes place to be in my hand on the time. LOL. in many cases kites I made myself are extra exciting than kites offered at a shop. My well known is a double-sled kite I made. that's 18" tall. 2 lifting surfaces are 12" extensive each and each, and the "fins" on the facets upload yet another 6"+6" for an an-the-floor width of 36". The fin interior the middle, and the two lifting surfaces, supply it impressive stability. Being created from a tall kitchen trash bag with 3 bamboo longerons makes it easy-weight, so it relatively is a very sturdy easy wind flier. i like to purpose to fly fighter kites. they're exciting basically whilst the wind is quite secure. whilst that's not, then I stick a tail on 'em. inspect the "classic hata kite" at intothewind DOT com. on the coastline, I fly a "Cody professional kite." you may google for this. final yet no longer least, I additionally % to fly a "ability sled 24." you may google for this. some human beings use those for kite aerial photographs. i does no longer. lots as i admire my kite, if I had a digicam i might circulate with the subsequent extra desirable length i think of (the flexibility sled 36). I actually have a lot of different kites. a number of them pull too complicated, and a few do no longer fly ok, and a few... the two.
