Sounds to me like they don't want to leave the comment alone, because that would imply it was correct, but either can't be bothered getting into an argument, or can't think of a good reply to the comment. I think a lot of atheists (especially those who have been atheist for a while) just get tired of people telling them they should believe in Christ, and feel like they should be allowed to go through life without religion being an issue at all.

I had the experience from the other side... Why are christians intolerant of non christians?? I lived in the bible belt of Manitoba,Canada. I moved there when I was 21. I had traveled the world and seen many different religions but upon returning to Canada I decided to live in a nice small town community. I had yet to find God but what better place to do it then there. I started going to church and joined a cell group but the one thing that kept bothering me was the fact that these people who are trying to teach me the bible are telling me that this is the only religion in the world and all others lead to hell. I question this because I have lived in a Muslim country and to tell you the truth the Muslim people respect and love their religion like they should. We attend church on Sundays but that does not mean we live like christians the rest of the week. To be a true christian we need to love and respect our religion everyday of the week and because of that we need to be tolerant of other peoples religion and we need to help those people who have not yet found God find their own way to him, not leave them lying on the side of the road. My frist experience with christians was a bad one, a hypocritical one. I thank God everyday that there are true christians out there who know and love their religion and those are the ones that helped me find my way.

I do both preach and practice tolerance. I simply do not need to be told about a religion that I followed for 15yrs. I already know it all, so I do get a bit annoyed when people try to bring God into my life.

Most of the christians I know are the most judgemental intolerant people I have met. It is totally pretentious to tell someone that they are going to burn in hell because they dont prescribe to the same belief system as you.
Add the fact that they cant prove anything they say and guess what? Contempt and anger

i have to agree with u i am a christian yet it annoys me when people say that other religions are bad and lead to hell. However this is their opinion and they are intitled to it and we should not impose our beliefs on them. Unfortunatly many christians these days do not lead a christian life and it is make our religion look terrible and turning people away, like many other religions the twisted ideas of a few people can be stereotyped as what we all believe

Yes. It would be nice if those who follow Christ would act more like him.

Life is not about beling tolerant. Life is about following Jesus and obeying his laws. Tolerance is a one way ticket to hell.
