But look at all the killing, sexual deviantion, slavery, having multiple wives in the "bible". If Jesus walked up to you today, how would you know it was him. He "tested" people in the new-testament, and they did not know it was him until they did everything he asked them to do playing a stranger.

So Jesus the preacher is going to com and the clouds will open and everyone will know it is him--What about tje other verse that says he will come as a thief in the night? Contadictory old stories for Social Control, I think so.
How can ANYONE who reads the bible cover to cover and have a brain believe the contradictory stories in the bible? How do we know Christianity is the "right" religion". The Jews even split in Jesus' time on wheter he was the messiah or not--the jews people!

How do we know? Judaism has clear requirements concerning the messiah.
Most of the textual requirements concerning the messiah, what he will do, and what will be done during his reign are located within the Book of Isaiah, although requirements are mentioned in other prophets as well.
* The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)
* Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)
* The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)
* He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)
* The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2)
* Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)
* Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)
* He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)
* All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)
* Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8)
* There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)
* All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)
* The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)
* He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)
* Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did to Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)
* The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)
* The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)
* Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)
* The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot
* He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together (Zephaniah 3:9)
* Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)
* He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)
* He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9)

Simple question.
God spend over 1500 years laying out a series of signs, prophecies, rituals, holy days, and laws that would show us exactly who the Messiah would be, what it would do, how he would accomplish it, etc. Down to such details as where he would be born, what he would be named, what race he would come from, what family line he would come from, when in history he would begin his ministry, how he would die, and that he would resurrection himself from death.
Look some time at Psalms 22. That one chapter alone list over 2 dozen events that would happen during the crucifixion of th Messiah, including his first and last word, that he would ask for a drink, what his enemies would say to mock him, that his hands and feet would be pierced, that his legs would not be broken like the others crucified that day, how the soliders would gamble for his clothing, that he would be buried in a borrowed tomb, and that he would resurrection from that death.
That is a handful of about 3,000 details given about the life of the Messiah 400 or more years before his birth. (We have copies of the prophecies that date back at least that far).
If the other would-be Messiahs want to present such proof of their claims, I am willing to listen. But it needs to run into the thousands of details, and over 2 million words. Has to have several dozens authors who all agree about his coming in advance, writing generations apart. It has to have been around for hundreds of years before the fulfillment. It has to have a whole nation following the prophecies, rules and rituals for a hundred generations first. Oh - and then they have to raise again from death. Then I might be convinced.
Until then, I will continue to follow the One person, Jesus the Christ, who has already done all those things - and more.

Everyone will know when the Lord returns.
Every eye shall see him:
"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." Revelation 1:7
There will be a great noise and the earth will be destroyed
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” 2 Peter 3:10

The Messiah I serve would never ask me to do the things Koresh or Jones demanded of their followers. My Messiah gave us choice to follow, while Koresh and Jones demanded obedience without question.
Also, Jesus is not coming again until Final Judgment. The world is still existing, so we know Judgment has not occurred.
Jesus said he would not come again through a woman...normal birth. Those two were born of women like the rest of us.
The bible tells us exactly how Christ will come again. When He comes again every knee shall bow and every tongue will have to proclaim that He alone is Lord. Trust me...we will know!
We need to know the Word, discern false prophets and walk the way of Christ.

It is obvious they were not the Messiah because the world did not change with their coming and deaths. Also, in order to be the Messiah he would have to fulfill the ancient Jewish prophecies.
He also carries a message of love and power. His authority and power will be and is unmistakenable because it is exercised in pure love. These men obviously did not exhibit this type of character.
Look for love, power and authority and reference the prophecies of the Jews for confirmation. There is no need to make a mistake or be confused.

He would come in the clouds, with a shout, the voice of the archangel, a trumpet will sound, the believers will be caught up in the air with him and then imediately the judgement begins.

The Holy Spirit would speak to our souls if God or Jesus showed up. IF this should occur, everyone will know.

Pretty sure that Jesus wouldn't be having sex with every woman in the compound (even those underaged), or force his followers to drink poison Kool-Aid at gunpoint.

First of all- there has not been a mass disappearance to my knowledge. The eastern sky was not split. God won't return again as a man, but only as Himself.

Turn to the book of Revelations and read about how Christ will come back. It should be pretty evident.
