Good question, maybe we will get some answers after the investigation into the whole mess... I also want to know why they were put in general population when ALL law enforcement is separated from the general population for their own safety.

Very good question indeed. I wonder why the press did not hold his feet to the fire on that one.

Bush was asked that very question and even mentioned it in his state of the union. He stated that there was a "process" like he wasn't quite sure what it was. I would have asked him Now that you apparently know the process, when are you going to pardon Ramos, Compean and Hernandez?

The plight of these three Americans illustrates where the Bush administration stands but more importantly it reveals where La Raza Unida, MALDEF, and MEChA stand.
Civil rights groups? hardly. These groups applaud the incarceration of these men. La Raza Unida is a subversive group plain and simple yet Ted Kennedy had them write his bill and Hillary Clinton is having a former La Raza officer run her campaign.

It is a good thing we killed the bill because this administrations refusal to pardon these agents and the Congress' inaction shows that the enforcement provisions of the bill would have been handled the same way. They would have done nothing.

Sadly, nothing will be done until we elect a president like Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter. Those two would pardon them and pin a medal on them.

That does piss me off. First they want the borders secure, the guys did their job and now they are being persecuted for doing it! These guys didn't look the other way like several other border patrol agents did and even assisted in illegals crossing, they tried to stop him and the agent that fired at the illegal had good reason to, he heard gun fire and couldn't descern who fired so he shot at the illegal. These guys were even of Latino descent and didn't second think their job! And now are going to do 10 yrs for something that the "Minute men are doing and won't be persecuted of. It's very sad. Get a petition going and write letters to our "President" let him know he needs to make a pardon for these guys and change it to commendations! Keep drug dealers and criminals out of our country!

Bush had to take care of Libby NOW. Think about if Libby
started talking. I am really surprised that they just didn't kill
him.
Even with the criminal record Libby will end up with some plush job. He took one for the team.

These border patrol agents don't even exist in Bushes mind.

Bush won't pardon the border patrol agents because he does not want our border with Mexico secure. He was chosen to run for president by the super rich who run this country because he agreed to cut taxes and provide an unending supply of cheap labor for US businesses. By allowing the agents to suffer in prison, other border patrol agents are intimidated.

Bush does not want border patrol agents to be too vigorous in doing their jobs; in fact he wants them to be lazy. He wants them to hesitate when deciding whether or not to pursue suspected illegals. Big businesses must have cheap labor.

Because they don't have any evidence against him or Cheney. Bush didn't commute Libby's sentence for Libby's sake. That was all about saving this administration from going down in flames.

It's a real shame to see these guys locked up for doing their job. There is another guy Mr. Hernandez in the same boat as them. It's too bad they don't have dirt on Mr. Bush.

He might on his way out. Libby was different than other pardons because it was done mid-term. Usually a president doesn't give pardons until they are on the way out to avoid political backfire.

Sure seemed to step up to the plate for Libby. I don't see why he couldn't have done the same for them.
