It's different for everyone. A lot of people I know gained weight on Lexapro but I actually lost weight. I'm on 30mg and lost 10+ lbs.

Weight Gain/Loss is something that is really dependent on an individual basis. I personally HAVE been on Lexapro. Then, I was 5'5" and 140lbs. A friend of mine was 5'5" and 120 lbs. She gained 30lbs. I gained NOTHING!
The side affects of Lexapro are close to that of other SSRIs. They may include nausea, somnolence, and gastrointestinal side effects, sexual side effects, gain in certain people, and dizziness after exercise in children.

No, It shouldn't...If anything It might help you to lose a few lbs. I took it for a few months and lost some weight. Talk to your doctor or read the labels that come with your prescription if your are worried about weight gain. You can also go to Webmd.com and check it out...just type it in and read about its common side effects, because not everyone is the same you know.

It can, most teen girls I have spoken to, as well as myself (i took it for six months when i was about 17) have said that they did gain weight.
Personally, I gained about 40 lbs while i was on the medication.

I took it for two years and didn't gain any noticeable weight. I gained more from quitting smoking.
Though, medications effect people differently. If you experience intolerable side effects, discuss them with your doctor and see if the benefits of the medication out weigh the negative.

It did me! The doc said to expect a 10 lb. weight gain, and by golly, she was right on the money. Good news is, it does come off, slowly, but surely.

It made me lose weight as it reduced my appetite greatly when I was on 20mg.
