Stomach stapling is the precursor to Bariatric Surgery. It involves separating the stomach into two sections and is meant to limit stomach size and therefore how much you can eat. The problem with all surgeries of this kind is that the stomach is made of muscle which can stretch over time. So anyone who has this must continue to watch how much they eat.

In stomach stapling, an incision is made in the abdomen. Surgical staples and a plastic band are used to create a small pouch at the top of the stomach. This pouch is not completely closed off from the rest of the stomach. A small opening [about 6.5 mm (0.26 in.) across] allows the partially digested food to move into the rest of the stomach and then the intestines. The size of the pouch is small enough that you can eat only 120 mL (0.5 cups) to 240 mL (1 cups) of food before feeling uncomfortable.

It is a method of losing weight by stapling the stomach so it can only take a limited amount of food to process.

A similar operation is called banding, where a band is placed around the stomach to do the same thing.

You have to be careful to maintain a healthy diet once the is done as your minerals and trace elements need to be maintained.

If all else fails this is a good operation but not one to be taken likely as with all operations (especially on large people) there are serious risks.

The stomach is literally a bag. A stapled stomach is stapling the bag around the edges to make the bag smaller. The idea is if the stomach is smaller, you will feel full sooner and stop eating.

It's a type of gastric surgery, similar to the "band" or the gastric bypass. They literally close off part of the stomach using surgical staples. A smaller stomach fills up faster. However if the person continues to overeat it will stretch out again, since the stomach is made of muscle tissue.

I think what happens is that Doctors staple up a large chunck of the stomach so that there's only a little bit that can be used, hence stopping people from eating too much.

It is a 'last resort' form of surgery to restrict the amount of food the stomach holds and performed (with consent of course) on people who are morbidly obsese. Stapling is the term that most people are familiar with though the surgery is nowadays normally performed with a gastric band. See here for more information:

It is a surgical procedure carried out on people to help shrink the size of the stomach and therefore decrease the amount of food they can actually eat. It reduces the size of the stomach to that of a fraction of its normal size. This allows the individual to feel full very quickly and makes it very easy to feel full....it is a final resort for people who cannot stop themselves eating and is kind of last chance saloon. It is a radical procedure but does work on some people..!! hope that helps..!!?

They staple part of your stomach together so that there is less room for food. It suppresses your hunger, and forces you to lose weight because you can not fit so much food in. It is an extreme way to lose weight, and only for those who are very over weight.
