just a point you have to believe in something or your whole life is not worth living... alot of you are saying you don't "believe" in atheism because it is the BELIEF that there is no God. If it is a belief then you are believing in something.

Atheism is just a belief that there is no God.
You can definitely believe it, just as well as someone would believe in God.
What most religious people confuse is Atheism with Nihilism (or the belief in nothing). Atheism doesn't necessarily mean that someone doesn't have a moral compass or anything of that nature, just that they don't believe in some type of a Creator.
I hope this helped your question,
Namaste

I don't "believe"! That's kinda the point. I don't have faith or spiritual belief in some greater omnipotent being. I don't believe the earth was created by God in 6 days, i don't believe moses parted the red sea, i don't perticularly believe that Jesus was crucifed on the cross (or that he was the son of God). I'm not too informed on many other religions and beliefs so I can't really comment but they all seem to point to one (or in some cases, more than one) higher power. I just don't have faith.
Hope this helps.

Atheism is non-belief in gods, religion, and the supernatural. It isn't something to believe "in", it is a philosophical view. I believe this way because it makes the most sense to me. I've belonged to several religions, studied the Bible and reasoned it out.

Atheism is the belief that God absolutely does not exist. I believe in it because I refuse to use faith as a method of understanding the universe. I prefer reason and logic.

I don't believe in anything, beliefs are dangerous. I have non-belief of all the religious systems of past and present, which it is quite easy to see are man-made. No reason to give the God(s) archetype any more creedance than any other archetype that could come out of the human mind.

Atheism has a very simple belief, there is no god. That's all there is to it.
Personally, I came to my beliefs by realizing there is no evidence for god.

For me the definition is simple - assume we all live inside an egg and we do not know what is really there outside. I think it will be foolish both to try and define such a being as also to say that there is nothing. It also applies to life after death, re-incarnation, resurrection, heaven, hell and all primitive and modern concepts, philosophy and ideas which tries to define such things.
This is my definition of Atheism.

atheism is the lack of belief in gods, and thus I don't have to 'believe' in anything: I was already an atheist when I was born.

Any particular atheist? Or atheists in general?
"Atheism" is a word derived from the Greek stem "theos," meaning god or gods and the prefix "a" meaning without. Thus, atheism is the belief in a world "without god or gods."

To say that without 'believing in something your life is not worth living' is a fine example of why I am an Atheist. Theists, and in particular Christians, are just to ignorant and superstitious to lead a wonderful, fulfilling life. I pity you .
Keep crawling around on your knees subjugating yourself to your imaginary friend, meanwhile the normal people are enjoying life and actually contributing to society, not sitting around waiting to die and join said imaginary friend.
