I remember when I was a teenager in the late 80's and the thought of kissing a girl I really liked was exciting. Getting to second or third base was considered sex back then. As young kids we didn't even contemplate the thought of actual intercourse, not because we didn't want to(my friends and I,) but because it was thought of as special and even sacred.
Wouldn't it be nice if today's teenagers could experience that same joy and simple naviety that we had, instead of the constant emphasis and pressure that kids are bombarded with everywhere they turn. And the smart ones don't have to buy what's being sold to them.
The 60's "if it feels good do it" mentality has set us back as a society and had done irreparable damage, the likes of which we've yet to fully experience.
I pray that type of innocence can come back one day, so that kids can appreciate the simple happiness that comes with kissing, holding hands and affectionate touching that doesn't always end up in the sack.

Hey Nodality: First of all, speak for yourself. You don't know me that well.
Secondly, I am not old at all and I'm not berading kids, I just think they're getting sex pushed on them a lot by the media. Clearly you're one of those people who subscribes to that and I'm not. Maybe you've been so corrupted by the media and this lifestyle for so long, you think that's the right way to be and I don't believe it's healthy for teenagers. They're not mature and wise enough of the worlds ways to be doing that and the unintended consequences of their actions can be catastrophic. That doesn't make me old, that makes me smart.
And if by shelterd you mean living in a nice suburb with families that cared for each other and could trust each other enough to leave their doors unlocked, then so be it. I'd rather be in that setting anyday, than living in crime ridden areas like NYC or Hella, where you spend most of your formidable years on the floor dodging bullets.
Anyone smart would.

Thanks Rock boy for proving my point exactly. Clearly you we're on the "other side" of the track. Wow, 10 years old. Getting off to a fast start are we? And see how you don't even value that girl you were with anymore?
I rest my case, "DUDE".

Hey Svet swedish girl:
I have my timelines very well in hand, clearly you don't. the 60's (which preceded the 80's, since you clearly can't count) caused the problems we have today. At least in the 80's when I was a kid, we didn't have the problems we have now. Maybe you're too young or stupid to understand that, but people like you complain about the past, but that past is so much better than the society in which we live now.
Everytime you sleep with someone, whether you stay with them or not, the FACT is you give a piece of yourself away, whether you know it or not. Now if you're ok with that, then fine, but most people aren't and they don't even realize it until after the fact.

I'm with you - the 60's did damage to what was considered sacred and made life, sex, family, marriages, and anything else of value totally meaningless.
Thanks to all you hippies that promoted selfishness - today's society is all about me and our kids don't know what is right anymore.

I agree completely, however, I don't feel that we should always look back on good old days, we have a habit to remember the good and forget the bad. I feel the way you described and I'm only 18, so I'm not some old person wishing kids today weren't like that. I am still a kid and I'm really disgusted with anyone my age who is only interested in sex or disrespects anyone. And so that nobody uses any stereotypes against me, I'm not religious, I'm attractive, and I'm innocent not ignorant, I choose to be this way. Also, I don't believe in blaming the 60's, I would say this is more a matter of technology and the media.

Those were the days...Now it seems it's a miracle if ones son, or daughter is still a virgin after the 6th grade. More parents need to raise their children as they were raised in the 80's and before. I think going to church was more affluent then, and helped parents to instill values in their children. So much politics concerning religion, has taken hold of many an American, rights being taken, stigmas of religion being forced upon citizens, a falsehood, of course. The 10 commandments being taken out of schools, libraries, and public buildings, and courts of law. This has all had an affect on the American children, and their ideas of propriety. The Liberals are the ones to blame for this.

It was only that way then because that was how the girls were. Today women (and young women) have learned their own sexuality and most today think like young men do. If they like someone and want to have sex they do it.
Young boys and men would have had sex in a minute in the 70's and 80's if the girls were as willing.
Men today are not as masculine as they were say ten years ago. They are more geared to the feelings of the woman and often let women dominate. Times changes and so do people. You can't have things the way it once was.

You had a sheltered upbringing. Young people have been having sex since humans worked out what it was. It's just proof that you're getting old that you start berating "the younger generation" for things that "younger generations" have been doing since at least ancient Greece, when the first written account of an older person bemoaning the fate of the future because of the young people theses days.
I was a teenager about a decade before you, and I know what young people were doing, because I was doing it... a lot.

Never, in the history of the world, did a healthy, heterosexual teenage boy consider gte laid to be "sacred." Please.. SACRED???
You can't even get yor timelines straight - the problem was caused by the 60's, but you look back fondly (and delusionaly) to the 80's.
