basicialy they have " compressed " the sound to make it louder, but by doing so any treble frequency is lowered.
Its to get your attention to the product being sold, but really annying when you have just fallen asleep in front of the tv

This most often occurs because of where the signal originates. The programs are often recieved from the network, while many of the adds are locally generated. This can result in a sound level mismatch. Most TV's have an option you can access via the menu system to more closely match the sound volumes. The instructions are in the users manual or can often be found online by doing a search on the TV model number.

cos they are sent at different wave lengths and the top of them gets cut off so they lose there sound quality but become much louder. Some artists do this on there albums to make them louder but lower quality.

That's the way they try to get your attention to see the ads,, but, in my case, it gets my attention to the point where I mute EVERY blasted ad. It's possible to even the sound between channels, but there is no way to do that with the ads, so just mute the ads.
