Coney Island used to be nice. Statue of Liberty is a sight all americans should see at least once. Espically if you relatives came over to this country at Ellis Island (which isn't worth seeing, its also in NJ). Times Square is where tourists go, if that what your looking for then have fun. I always recommend that people buy a Zagat's Restaurant Guide and try a new place for dinner every night that is not in Midtown. I love the restaurants and bars around NYU (Washington Square Park, Greenwich Village).
Aka Niagra Falls is about 8 hours from NYC. Its also a ghetto town. If you want to see the falls, see them from the Canadian side. More to do and an overall nicer area.

Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey. Niagra Falls is in Canada. The best places to go in New York are all somewhere else. Try the Kentucky Fried Rat in the Village.
