C. A directed verdict. They could also ask for a dismissal of all charges.

if when the state/prosecution is finished with their case in chief, if the defense feels that they have failed to meet their burden of of proof, they can ask for a directed verdict. This is asking the judge to make a decision immediately based on the fact that they prosecution did not produce enough evidence to create beyond a reasonable doubt (criminal case) or preponderance of the evidence (civil case) in which the defense feels there is not enough proof to continue with the trial.
