Follow Jesus. Paul himself said, "follow me as I follow Christ." Taken in context he was saying, only follow me inasmuch as I follow Christ. Fortunately, God inspired Paul to write his epistles and therefore following what God wrote through Paul is indeed following Jesus.
Christ very clearly taught that God looks at what is in the heart as opposed to mere externals (Jesus equates hate in the heart with breaking the outward commandment of murder and lust in the heart with breaking the outward commandment of adultery). Paul's writings are consistent with that idea. It is circumcision of the heart (also called regeneration, spiritual baptism, etc.) that is important, not merely the outward symbol and that spiritual cleansing is what makes it possible to truly obey "The Law."
The book of Hebrews (unknown author, but many attribute it to Paul) goes into greater detail on this topic of the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. If you read the entirety of the New Testament (Jesus' words and Paul's/Peter's/etc.), it is easier to see how easily it can be synthesized into an entire, consistent philosophy, as opposed to merely picking out single verses here and there.

"Paul's writing make it very clear that you don’t have to follow commandments"
Sorry, but that is a distortion of Paul's teachings that has been around since Paul was preaching.
Romans 3:5 But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) 6 By no means! For then how could God judge the world? 7 But if through my lie God's truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? 8 And why not do evil that good may come?--as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.
Here's what else Paul wrote about keeping commandments and salvation.
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
So to answer your question with wisdom and true understanding as opposed to distorting the teachings of the Apostle Paul, you can follow Paul as He follows Jesus if you want to. Just make sure that you are following Jesus.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Acts 4:8 Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we today are being judged for a good work to a weak man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the 'stone which was rejected by you, the ones building, which became the chief cornerstone.' 12 Nor is there salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven which has been given among men by which we must be saved."
The reason that circumcision is no longer a law is because it was an outward symbol foreshadowing the inner change that God himself would bring about when He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in the hearts of regenerated believers. Paul explains that if you take the time to read all of his writings.
Romans 2:25 For indeed circumcision profits if you keep the law; but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. 26 Therefore, if a Gentile keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? 27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, who fulfills the law, judge you along with your written code and circumcision, a transgressor of the law? 28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in flesh; 29 but he is a Jew that is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.
It has to do with the new covenant God made with manking through Jesus.
Hebrews 10:11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which are never able to take away sins. 12 But He Himself, having offered one sacrifice for sins forever, He sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are placed as a footstool for His feet. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. 15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
16 "This is the covenant which I shall covenant with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws on their hearts, and I will inscribe them on their minds, 17 and their sins and their lawless deeds I shall by no means remember any longer." (see Jeremiah 31:33)
