get them as scratch pole

Buy a water pistol and if you catch them scratching the walls, squirt them at the same time as telling them "No" - it worked with my cats

Oh no! Not the dreaded textured wallpaper! This wallpaper has a kind of polystyrene in it that drives cats wild. i rented aplace and the kitchen was floor to ceiling in the stuff, my cats had a ball. I'd wake in the morning and there'd be claw marks where they'd literally climbed the wall right up to the ceiling and slid back down. There's nothing you can do except remove it. Squirting tham with water and telling them off won't work as there's something in the polystyrene that draws them like catnip. They'll know they'll be in trouble when you see but they can't help it.

1. Buy some mesh or some wood planks or a plastic sheet and cover the lower part of the wall.
2. Whenever you catch them on the act, say NO, grab them from the neck and put them on their scratching post. This has always worked to my kittens, after 2-3 efforts. However, if your cats have not learned from the beginning and they have already ripped other wallpapers, you may have to go back to option no. 1.

Hi Ben - my 2 little 'darlings' ripped all the wallpaper off my hallway but what slowed them down was putting their scratching post in front of their favourite bit of wall. Also, a squirt of water will deter them. Basically, you have a keep a close eye on them as much as poss and whenever you see them doing something bad, address the issue. Dont shout at them tho as they wont come near you again. Hope this helps, good luck! Bxx

If the cat is chewing the wall paper, you will possibly desire to spray the section with a reliable fragrance that the cat does not like. do no longer spray the cat! human beings do no longer carry around water bottles and spray their babies interior the face with some thing while they do some thing incorrect, so why might you do it on your animal? p.c.. her up by the scruff of the neck and growl (even possibly exhibiting your tooth). It sounds stupid yet I actual have experienced my 2 male kittens to act by growling while they're doing some thing incorrect. it relatively is how they their mom might coach them interior the wild and that i've got chanced on it works o.k.. in the journey that your cat is scratching the wallpaper you're able to evaluate getting it declawed. i comprehend there are a number of human beings by contrast technique. even if, I actual have been a veterinary technician for an prolonged time and have watched many cats be declawed. I actual have in no way seen a cat have a challenge after the surgical treatment. in the journey that your veterinarian is familiar with what he or she is doing, your cat might desire to recuperate interior of each week or so. reliable success!

Guaranteed cure:- Get a spray-type room freshener which smells of oranges. (I bought mine in Marks & Spencer) Then spray the wallpaper with it where the cat scratches. Your cat will never go near that spot again. Of course, if he starts scratching somewhere else, you'll have to spray that area too.

Check with your vet, there is a procuct called "soft Paws" it is a sheath that covers the front paws, very humane alternative to declawing. They will still do the scratching actions but with no harmful results. THey can also be purchased at a pet store, either way they are very inexspensive, but need to be replaced about every 2 months.

Try to give them some papers to play with- like paper balls....and every time they will try to rip the wall paper take them away and start trowing the paper toys to them maybe that will work. My kitten is crazy about any wraps candy papers and prints....when she gets a piece she stops the destruction :-)

Spray the height of the cats on the wallpaper (basically as high as they can reach) with a find mist of citrus smelling spray and they will avoid going near it as they hate the smell.

Hope this helps

I have seen something on the tv on worst behaved pets. same problem, They put a clear plastic pyrex square over the area.
Other way is to buy a pet Behave spray or Paws off spray and use it on the area to defer them.
