In the first place God was not encouraging that, but the reason why God did not mentioned his wife's anme was because if you to through the bible and checked various genealogies you won't see where women's name are mentioned. It doesn't mean they are less important but it wasn't necessary.
Abraham had to take Sarah his wife along because she was the bone of bones and flesh of flesh of Abraham and God ssaw them that way.
Secondly, it was not as if Abraham did not follow God's instruction to the later. Abraham was a man of God, he knew God's word, the will of God, the way of God and inconclusion God knows that he knew the right thing to do and God was pleased with him when he took his wife along. God is not encouraging divorce.

Abraham was required to leave most of his extended family behind. Therefore it was important to identify those who were included in his traveling party. Also there is much more about Abraham's wife in later scripture, she was a significant part of the story which would unfold. Divorce is not pleasing to God. We learn that from the New Testament. He expects a commitment, and the work and sacrifice it requires to make a marriage succeed. See St. Mathew chapter 19 verses 1 through 9.

Hi friend! The question of divorce does not arise here at all. Note that God does not mention Sarah's name anywhere in these 4 verses. Verse 5 says that Abraham took his wife Sarah and that simply means they set out of Haran in obedience to God's command AS A FAMILY. It only affirms their commitment to each other. Hope it helps.

Well, the Prime answer to this Q is that there was great wickedness amongst the household of Abraham there in Ur - even his father was idolatrous, and the Lord wanted those who would repent in that household, to leave and re-start life with a clean slate!
Therefore, He specified more precisely to Abraham exactly who he should take with him from among the whole household.
If you wish to find out more, try the reference below; they were manuscripts found in addition to those gathered up and put into the Holy Bible

When God calls the man of the house, this would naturally include his wife and children. No one would expect a man to leave his entire family and go wanderig around alone.

If a company would ask a man to move with the company, the man most likely would bring his family, even if the company didn't mention his family in the memo.

Either -
"His wife" is mentioned because she was a valuable possession or chattel (young, fertile, etc).
Or -
People would assume that he left something as unimportant as his wife behind (old, post-menopausal etc).

God didn't need to mention his wife because when you are married you become one.
