It's becoming so popular in some countries that people can bear the pain to go through, not one but a series of operations.
What do you think - is the pain, cost and consequences worth it? Thanks!

Very difficult question. I had a breast augmentation 7 years ago as I had always been unhappy about them being non existent, and they really were. I only went up a size, paid for it after saving hard and did it for no-one but myself. I was happy with them but now I've had a child I think they need doing again. I think it's a slippery slope now to be honest as there are other procedures I would consider. I wouldn't say I'm insecure, but wanting to improve on things that probably don't need improving. In my opinion it is not the key to happiness, it is a short term fix to deeper rooted problems with self esteem. However, if it is to correct or reconstruct, ie for cancer and accident patients, in that case, it can be fantastic. I think counselling prior to any procedure is a very good idea.

I think that surgery to correct major deformities is wonderful and how lucky we are to live in modern times! But going under the knife to in an attempt to look like a Barbie (or Ken) doll is very very sad. Are the plastic people any happier than those who understand the things that REALLY matter? The photos of the surgically enhanced celebrities are so awful. If I had that much money to spare, I like to think that I would do something meaningful with it.

I haven't had cosmetic surgery, so I can't know for sure. However, I think that it does make some people happy, because it can give them confidence. I doubt I'd really be happier if I ever got cosmetic surgery, but it floats some people's boats, otherwise it wouldn't be so popular, right?

Males always do plastic surgery. Haven't you seen any Dr.90210? People get plastic surgery to better their lives and make themselves feel happier about their appearence. I definitely don't think it's the "key to happiness". Unless you're addicted to it.

If someone has a disfigurement, that causese them embarrassment and pain, plastic surgery is truly a wonderful thing as it can resore normalcy. But undergoing plastic surgery for vanity sake is rediculous. It is a quick-fix that eventually wears off (the effects of satisfaction). People that are addicted to it have a problem - one that is potentailly fatal. The inside is what is needed to be fixed, the spirit, not the body

I really don't think it is. Most people still feel bad about themselves and thats why they keep constantly going back. I think plastic surgery is good for those people who have lost a breast to cancer or had their nose broken alot and need to breathe better. I think people should really just be happy with who they are especially since plastic surgery is not a permant thing you have to constanly go back and their are complications. So I really don't think it makes people happy it just helps them feel better for a while like cocaine or something because if they were seriously happy they wouldn't need it.

Cosmetic surgery is not the key to happiness because if u do not feel happy just being yourself, u would never be happy, please look for the great qualities u have, do the things u enjoy, put God in your life and u will see how happy u will be

depends if people are really hung up on parts of their bodys, spose its a easy way out, personally, im happy with what ive got, yehh i say wish i could change this and that but i would not consider surgery unless i had a accident etc,i just would not have it because of vanity reasons!!!

If people want to tho fair play its their lives

Some people are very conscious of their looks, figure etc., and are willing to pay the price to look good, fashionable.
