and are making out its because they have received no work from me.
On the letter i received this morning it says basically......

We have received no work from you since may18th so we are terminating your contract as of may 31st.

They are only doing this because they havent paid me they kept sending me cheques that kept bouncing so i went to citizens advice on friday who then phoned them about this then today i receive that letter.
But what puzzles me is the fact that today is july3rd and they are trying to terminate my contract from may 31st can they really do this?

P.s im going to citizens advice again in a min but i just want to know if they can do this or not?

they paid 200 one week then sent a cheque for the rest when that bounced they then gave me another 200 and another cheque which then bounced so altogether they have gave me 400 for 9weeks work.

no its not home work it is market research you have to send the sheets of by post to them but they do not refund any posting costs so i got fed up of sending them by recorded delievery as it was costing me a fortune which was coming out of my pocket.

No they can't do this. Obviously I haven't heard their side of things but it sounds as though you have been employed by a firm of crooks. You can claim compensation and they could face criminal charges. See what CAB have to say, then post another question.

This seems to be one of the home working fraud scams that are going round and an alternative to the more usual charge of excessive set up costs to the applicant. They set up, get people to do a load of home working and send it in to them. They then forward it on to the REAL homeworking company and get paid for your work. The next step is to keep the people they have swindled at bay for a while by sending out cheques which have no chance of clearing. They may try and buy and extra week or two by telling people they never received their work (WHY didn't you send recorded so they could not use that excuse???), but I think you and the CAB will end up chasing shadows on this one...

It is possible that they lost all three letters. Saying you posted the letters does not prove they were received, did you send any recorded? It may cost an additional 60p but they would not be able to say anything if you had done that. Finally, if they have not paid, they sound like crooks, make sure you do something to ensure they do not use your work anyway (as you say they should have received at least one of the letters). If possible, get someone official to review your work and seal it. This way if they use it you could sue them for copyright infringement (assuming you copyrighted the work). Good luck

Go to your local CAB for confidential advice on this one hun. They can help you by telling you what your rights are act. Another good place to look is the direct gov website. If you type in pregnancy at work it will tell you exactly what your entitlements are. That said, you should also try and get a copy of your maternity policy from your place of work as this will set out what you get in relation to length of service ect. In the UK, it is illegal to sack an employee for being pregnant, however it is not illegal to sack an employee for having prolonged sickness. If you feel that you were sacked following your pregnancy you should follow your grivance or appeal procedure. The other thing to do is file a grievance report about the manner in which you informed of this decision and you bosses attitude. You, as an employee are entitled to paid time off to attend antenatal appointments. Good luck hun, let us know how you get on

We don't seem to have much in the way of working rights since the unions were demolished. Employers use every trick in the book to get around the law. I would work out exactly what they owe you and put in a claim at the small claims court, where they will have to attend and explain their behaviour. They might pay up before you get to court. I doubt you can do very much about the contract termination.

If this is 'Home Work' you are talking about .. then the chances of ever being paid is small. Most Home Work companies are fraudsters and hardly ever pay out if at all possible. The excuses are as you have already described. You have my sympathies. I really doubt CAB can help.
