It's obvious you don't feel the same way as you did for your boyfriend 8 years ago, simply by reading your question and pointing out how you said, "i am in a long term relationship thats going ok i guess...". You have also been subconsciously "looking" and you found. I know that after a while, the mystery and passion, the freshness of a relationship can fade within years. But I advise you to be careful. Make sure that if you're willing to throw in the towel with your boyfriend after 8 long years, just so that you can be in a relationship with the guy you chat with, that this online guy is who he really says he is.
I suggest you talk to your boyfriend and tell him how you really feel. You two really need to sit down and discuss about where you two stand in the relationship and where is your relationship heading (8 years is a very long time!). If it's not going anywhere and you still feel confused or like something's missing, you should end your relationship. Why keep leading your boyfriend? Why be in a relationship where you are just in it for the sake of being in it?

Let the 'chat' stay the chat guy. Fine, you need someone to talk to one in a while, there's nothing wrong with that. but you should not start having actual feelings that could affect your current relationship. Your boyfriend can also read you like an open book, he just doesn't want to make you feel like you are predictable. its sounds like the spark in your relationship is fading away. you need to bring it back, you need to bring back the excitement in your relationship, it will keep your mind away from the other guy

If the one that you are with now, has not made permanent plans for your lives together as of yet, he probably will never do it. I say get a friend to come, and meet this new guy. Check him out in person to see if he might be worth the move!!! Don't waste any more of your young years with a man that obviously has no intention of making you his wife. Remember that you are only young one time.

I believe talking to someone online shows who they really are, but hell anybody can be charming over the internet. So i think you should remember the old saying you dont know what you have until its gone. Do you really want to take a chance and waist 8 years of your life for a guy you never met. Another question is talking to another person on line cheating?

chat people are not real until you meet them in person. he might be totally different in person than his computer persona.....
sounds like you are not totally into your boyfriend anyway, so deal with that, but don't read too much into the chat till you really know the person, becaue he's hiding behind the internet for now.

Keep up your sense of optimism. If you know what you want and have faith that it will happen, you're almost there. Just let the process of getting there be a surprise and learn to work with what you have.
