Why does the bible have an "Old Testament" and a "New Testament"? Didn't he get it right the first time? If he's infallible, why did he need an update?

Ok first Testament or old testament is the old law that governed the Jews before Jesus came along, then Jesus came along at it was no longer necessary to sacrifice thingss etc to have our sins forgiven, it is by believing and accepting Jesus that our sins are forgiven, so because of this we have a new set of how things are called the new testament. Hope this helps.

The Old Testament was written before Christ's birth and chronicles the history of the Jewish people before Christianity.
The New Testament begins with the birth of Christ and chronicles his life and teachings as well as those of his 12 disciples. The final book in the New Testament is Revelations, the apocolyptic scriptures.
So, the New Testament is not an update. Think of it more as a sequel.

Funny...because in reality it's 66 books. The old/new testament just denotes when the books were written. The Bible is actually a compilation of 66 books that were written by at least 25 authors over a period of probably close to 4,000 years. God had man right it, so it's not a matter of "getting it right the first time."

Have you ever read Bible? The terms "Old" and "New" refers to the Chronology only and one is the continuation of the other. Old Testament is those written before the birth of the Key Figure "Jesus Christ", and New is that written after Him.

The Old testament is taken from the Jewish Talmud, the new testament is about Christ and supposedly written by witnesses on his life{I think}, but definitely not Jewish.

God almighty has sent deffernt messengers to defferent group of peoples on defferent times, Like Jesus to the jews, Moses to His followers And muhammed To Muslims, But all of them brought almost same messages from one God almighty, That's the reason all three books have contains many similar messages, Becouse these books are from one God, The last and final messenger of god is Prophet Muhammad!!

Before Christ conquered death, mankind had to make sacrifices to God for their sins as the holy spirit was not yet in the world and mankind lived under the law of the Old Testiment. No man ever entered the kingdom of Heaven prior to the assention of Christ. After Christ conquered death, mankind, from that moment on, now lives under grace ( the New Testiment). This means that Christ is our Saviour, and through him we have salvation. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners, and as sinners, we cannot achieve our own salvation. No man ever entered the kingdom of Heaven prior to Christ. It is through Christ, that we now have access to Heaven, but only if we believe in him. Jesus Christ is the New Testiment, and the New Testiment brings salvation through Jesus Christ.

Ha, ha, that made me giggle.

Also, as the Bible is the world's best selling book, isn't it about time they brought out 'The Bible 2'.
