Yes the water subsided a few weeks after the storm and when they were able to begin restoring the levys. Although much of New Orleans is back and better then ever many of the surrounding areas are still feeling the effects and will for years to come. But the tourist areas of the city are back in full force.

seriously, you're asking if the water is gone? the hurricane was two years ago...of course the water has subsided. new orleans has been back up and running for a long time now. all the festivals are back and in full force. i'm proud to call it home.

the water actually subsided about a month after the storm. and i've been living back in new orleans since then.

We all push pole our pirogues to work, and go shopping. It's like Venice. LOL
Returning to reality: The city was mostly dry by the time Rita hit, and some re-flooded. It only took a couple of weeks to pump the water out, which is amazing when you consider the volume of water.
There are a few low lying areas around New Orleans which would flood if the pumps were ever turned off. That is because they are below sea level.

It subsided about 2 years ago, and some parts of the city didn't get any water at all.

Well, it did rain quite a little yesterday. But, there is NO FLOODING HERE!! What do you think?? There are pumping stations, the reasons they didn't work are: the levees broke, so water from the lake came in; and the resulting flood caused the pumps to short out. But, the water is gone. Come on down and see for yourself.

yes, the water was pumped out 2 years ago. It's about 60-70% back (population wise). There's no water, but it does take time and money to rebuild.
