At 6 weeks old, I would definitely take your puppy to the vet instead of trying an over the counter medication. For our puppy it was only $13 at the vets for the deworming... and she was 15lbs (they charge by weight of the dog)

the best thing is to take a stool sample to the vets and get the correct wormer. the stuff you buy at pet shops or wal marts is a wide range wormer and doesn't really do the job and you need many doses.
Also if the pup is 6 weeks old he should be started on vacinations if he hasn't already and ask the vet about heartworm preventative as most of these will then prevent the worms after the pup is treated.

Take the puppies to the vet, they have de-worming pills to give them. Also take a stool sample to the vet so he can determine what kind of worms they have. You can crush the pills into their food and they won't even taste them. Within a few days, they will be gone. This is very common with puppies, but they will need medication to be sure they are gone.

Contact your vet for some meds. Take in a stool sample so they can give the correct meds for the type of worms. And while you're there, you can give you pup the 1st set of shots. You won't waste a trip & you can start protecting your pup from parvo/distemper/hepatitis as well as getting rid of the worms.

They sound like roundworms...Go get some NEMEX 2 at petsmart or petco, give it to them every two weeks, and give mom some also. Keep the yard picked up and all the bedding areas spotlessly clean to help prevent reinfection. When you take them in for their 6 week puppy shots, you can have the vet find out for sure and then he can recommend a wormer or sell you one, too.

It is imperative to have a vet identify the type of worms so you can get the proper de-wormer. Not all de-wormers work on all worms...particularly tapewoms.
Worms can quickly cause such debilitation in wee pups that they can die.

You take them to the vet, you get them properly diagnosed so that you can give them the correct medication to ensure that the worms are erradicated.
You can't just treat worms if you don't know for sure what they are.

Talk to your vet, puppies are much more senstive to worm medication than adult dogs.
