I certainly don't. Paul also said that tongues would cease when "that" which is perfect comes. Now I know what you would say to that. (well, he meant when Jesus comes again). Oh no,no,no,.....Paul would never ever refer to his Savior and Lord, and call him " that". True Jesus is perfect, but he is not what Paul meant. Paul would have had more respect than to merely call Jesus " that ". He would have said ( when He, who is Perfect comes ). Paul is speaking of the Word, the perfect word of God. ( the inspired written word of God, the Bible ). They as yet did not have the complete written word. (or it was perfect in its original writings) I'm not so sure now. During the times of Paul it was a necessity to speak in tongues (different languages) to tell all the different people about Jesus. But after the written word came about , tongues was no longer necessary, unless you were speaking to someone who didn't understand what you were speaking. Then you would need an interpreter that spoke both of your languages to interpret what was being said. Going around speaking gobbledigook and sounding like a turkey, I guarantee you is not from the Holy Spirit. Better be careful about what spirits you entertain.

I think your crazy and don't really have ANY idea what you believe. What is the purpose in talking gibberish? None.
God has a purpose in everything and does not have to make a point or be dramatic. He speaks to us through the promptings of the Holy Ghost that we feel in our hearts.
Speaking in tongues as in being able to speak many languages is a real possibility, but gibberish serves no purpose and is not of God.

To be honest, I think it's extremely fake, and a whole lot creepy! People rolling round on the floor salivating, and making all kinds of stupid noises, it's just ridiculous! The sad thing is people keep going along with it. People pretend to talk in tongues, and do the whole rolling on the floor wailing, just to keep up the pretense that it actually does happen. I'm sure they get so worked up to do it, and there is so much pressure from the church to make it look good, that it's just an expression of mass hysteria. One person does it, and then pretty soon everyone is doing it just so they don't look like their the only one who's not holy enough to be possessed. It's rubbish perpetuated by lies. You would think that churches that preach truth and being good and doing right wouldn't cling so closely to something that is so blatantly fabricated. It does damage their public image. People assume that individuals who are stupid enough to go along with that lie, and participate in keeping it alive are nothing but sheep, easily led, mindless sheep. I genuinely feel embarrassed for people who do it! Cause no rational person is fooled by it, they all know it's fake, and that you are faking it, and they think less of you because of it.

The Holy Ghost comes from hearing God's word -
Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

i think of God nonetheless shows human beings issues (prophesy) and that i think of there are people who talk in tongues (languages) on a similar time as under the impression of the Holy Spirit. the difficulty I unquestionably have including your mom, from what you let us know, is that she brags approximately those issues. satisfaction is a sin. and she or he sounds prideful or probably she desires interest, i don't recognize. If she is analyzing your diary and gazing you in church (while she would desire to be specializing in worshiping God) then she is likewise incorrect and manipulative. conversing in tongues and prophesy/visions have been lots of the presents of the Spirit Jesus promised we would have. regrettably, those issues have been misused with the aid of human beings until eventually they have a damaging connotation for many persons. yet there are those with organic motives and hearts on the factor of God who nonetheless have those presents!! Thank God for that....((Hugs))

Yes. I believe, repented, and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by praying through in tongues. I've posted this answer before but will re-post to your question:
Speaking in tongues serves two purposes: for personal edification (1 Cor 14:4 KJV) as well as one of gifts of the Holy Spirit to spread the Gospel. And speaking in tongues has not ceased because the Church has not been perfected yet (1 Cor 13:8-10 KJV). But not all will receive this gift.
The tongue is the last, most stubborn member of the body to submit to God. I personally am grateful I am able to speak in a heavenly prayer language that allows my inner spirit to communicate with God. I know that God is working in my life to cleave the carnal things that my flesh is not conscious of and to purify my spirit towards holiness. I honestly do not know what I would do with out it.
God Bless you always!

I spent many years in born again prayer meetings, and am a witness to numerous occurrences of so-called "speaking in tongues". Those people were either phonies or were in self-imposed trances. It's plain nonsense. If I were you, I would not waste my time with such ridiculous activities. By the way, the "holy ghost" is a fabrication of men....just like the tooth fairy.

Speaking in tongues is a gift. Speaking in tongues was a gift bestowed by the Holy Spirit, but it, or any other gift, can be misused. Speaking in tongues was no mark of spirituality, because the Corinthian church was unspiritual, having manifested carnality (3:1-3) and even gross sin (5:1). And so Paul points them to a Scripture they should have known, saying, “In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord” (12:21).
