From Los Angeles to San Diego, you can take the amtrak. The amtrak train is called Pacific Surfliner. It takes approximately 2 hours 50 minutes per one way. However if you never been on a amtrak down to San Diego it is spectacular with the beaches and coastline of San Diego.

The fee is $34 for one way. Check out the website

Type LAX for Los Angeles (departs)

Amtrak! I just did that same rout just under two week ago! There was two kinds of trains i could of taken, one goes straight for like $48.00 and one stops here and there for like $32 or somthing. I did the $48 since I was in a hurry. It took like 2 and ahalf hours. it was neat. Since you go along the coast, and see the beaches, it went real close to a big cliff and near a big fair, the San Deigo county fair, which I went to, and it's worth it.
