I would choose the Heckler over the Superlight, anyday. Pretty much the same bike but a lot burlier and a bit more traval. Pricewise I think they're pretty close.

The Stinky is nice, but for freeride, not that nice for the climbs.

I really don't know much about the Merida, it looks nice in person, but I would choose the Heckler over it.

The Santa Cruz "Bullit" would be the more equal comparison to the Kona "Stinky". I would go with the Santa Cruz if I had to choose. JMO

It's pretty amusing but I'm pretty sure Merida makes all those frames.... I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

There are dozens...maybe hundreds of Asian framebuilders out there but only 2- Merida and Fairly from Taiwan- are considered top-of-the-line builders.

That being said I would probably go for the Santa Cruz.

I think the SC Superlight is more of a cross-country (XC) bike. If you are into all-mountain, get a bike with longer travel, ie., 5-6 inches travel. Stinky is a bit heavy for all-mountain, but great for downhill.
