I remember reading in a book about strange and unusual things that take place around the world (i.e. did a mummy's curse really sink the Titanic?), and one of the sections did mention that ancient clay wheeled toys were found in an archaeological dig near Mexico City (I think that dig occured in the 1940s, though it's been a while since I read that book, so that date could be off).

But to use an example here to answer, where's the evidence that there were no use of wheels in the ancient Americas? There's nothing to indicate that they didn't exist (there's nothing that says wheels have to be made of a material that lasts for 1,600+ years' worth of neglect).

Actually, there is evidence of Chariots: Rameses II of Egypt sent 5,000 chariots to overcome the Hittites in 1286 BC. Greeks in chariots attacked Troy, and there are accounts of its use in China and India. So, if there is evidence of them at this time, it's probable to think that they were around longer then that, and that other civilizations used them also.

There were paved roads found in ancient cities on this continent. Why would paved roads be needed if chariots, or carts weren't used? Also, who's to say that the word "chariot" doesn't really mean something else to the people at the time? Or that to Joseph Smith, the closest word he had to what they said was chariot. It might be a totally different thing then what we think of as chariot. Maybe a chariot back then was a wagon, or a single-person cart. Who knows?

It is true that no large scale vehicles with wheels have been found dating back to ancient American times. However, at least thirty toy vehicles with wheels have been found in Mexico and Central America. These toys are simular to toys found in the Old World, where they are patterned after full sized vehicles. It is doubtful that the inhabitants of ancient America would have known about the wheel as a toy, but failed to consider it as a full scale object. It seems likely that the wheels in ancient America would have been made of wood and long ago decayed.

Actually, there is. What about the highway systems found in Central America between the ancient Myan cities? Why would they have built paved roads to walk on?

Archaeological evidence is largely absent for ANYTHING in the BOM. The last Mormon to talk about such issues is Dr. Thomas Murphy. Where is he now?
In contrast, even agnostic and atheistic archaeologists will use the Bible as authoritative when looking for certain things in the old world.

RE; one of the answers given --HOw could God be scared of anything? He's God Almighty. Better question is why were so many of Joseph Smith's prophecies wrong? and other prophets. Black men can now hold the priesthood, The city to be destroyed wasn't, and why the change from the original polygamy revelation if it was really commanded by god? God doesn't change his mind/values to fit those of society. Society should be fit to his rules, tho it isn't of course.

Must ALL things be proven unto you? Will you not accept ANYTHING on faith? Could it be that they were either repurposed for something else, or if that could not happen, perhaps they were burned for fire wood? And if any metal origianally covered them, that it was taken off and repurposed prior to burning or overall repurposing?
