I am a Seventh Day Adventist and own a pair of Burkienstoks
they are sooo comfortable I have replaced regular shoes with them.
I don't think that it is a religious thing, that is like calling your wife an Indian for wearing a towel around her head.

Fellow Floridians ask you this?
I think that the people who are generally thick and naive about "religion" are the ones who might make this association...
Or not...
I hate shoes. That's why I wear sandals and flip-flops when not working. I like the feel of air on my feet.

Because your sandals look divine!
Otherwise, no idea. White robes and burqas tend to give more of a religious Muslim than sandals.
If you don't like this perception, try flip flops!

LOL....I have no idea.
If I had to guess, probably from the media clips of Muslim men at prayer...most are wearing sandals.

I don't know why! Stupid Assumption on their part.
In John 10:36, Jesus said, "Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?"
