I live in Arizona and agree with the law. Why be against enforcing laws? No reform is needed and I might add that good ole Sheriff Joe has paved the way and set an example of following current laws by doing what the Federal Government should be doing. Glad I live in this current 111 weather too.

I don't live in AZ but he bill makes sense on a few different points.
1) some of the people will have tried to use a fake social security number, drivers license and/or other papers to be hired. It is my opinion that this protects the employer.
2) the lack of jobs for illegals in AZ will steer them away from the state, it's educational, medical and other resources. This obviously is a better deal for the state.
3) the lack of jobs will steer the coyotes away from their borders and desert lands and therefore less illegals will die in the AZ deserts from natural or unnatural causes.. like the coyotes killing them.
4) it will send a message to the other states that employing cheap labor and exploiting them is NOT okay and it is NOT okay to pay Americans or Green card or Visa holders less because the illegal labor pool is willing to accept less.
5) it would be nice is the USA would stop outsourcing it's work to other countries. We need jobs as much as corporate America needs profits..... if not more so.

Ironically that has been the law for all States to make these decisions regarding illegal trespassers, as well as the businesses, and employers who hire them.

I agree with SoftTSoul, this has been a law for all 50 states, however we Americans don't want to offend someone who is here illegally, so we have to "debate" what needs to be done about it. My first job I applied for over 25 years ago, they asked for my Social Security card to make sure I was an American citizen. I want to know when did that stop, because every job since then I had to show proof that I was a citizen.

No, since the enforcement is confined to that single state. The feds have never had a problem with a state passing their own laws. In fact the way it has always been done is, If the state law is harsher, then it rather than the federal version is used. Obama just doesn't want immagration laws enforced. He is using his office to follow his personl preferrence rather than upholding his oath to enforce the law.

Well it's about friggin' time she did something about the illegal problem as I was in Tucson for 8 years. I hated to go to a circle k store each time and see either a white-trash bonehead working there or 3 mexicans standing by the landscaping truck! Maybe Mexico ought to do things that really help out their people instead of being pons with Uncle Sam's scheme of things. At least one more roadblock on the highway towards the North American Union of Neo-cons and illegal mexicans

Yeah, but she wants to have a special legislative session to clarify it - and get more funding. She says $100,000 isn't enough to pay for the database and employer enforcement.
Good for her - this time.
It requires them to check a database. If they don't once, they are fined. The second time they lose their business license.
I will tell you my opinion. It will be a lot harder for a large employer such as the phone company not to have more than one employee who makes that same mistake or overlooks it, once each.
This could get interesting.
What do you do if the phone company, or a hospital, loses its license?
Maybe that is why she wanted the special session.
In THEORY I am all for it, though.

of course i agree with it. now all we need to do is figure out a way to keep them out of the rest of the country. i wish new york would do that. believe it or not we have a bunch of illegal immigrants up here as well. illegal immigrants are the skid marks on the underpants of society.

If you would go to college, you wouldnt have to worry about an illegal taking your job, so good luck to all those who think that by recovering these jobs that the illegal immigrants took flipping burguers at mcdonalds are going to achieve your american dream!
We'll see if after a year that law will apply to people working in the fields and the construction and landscaping industry (we all know that it wont because nobody want to perform such jobs).
By the way, thanks to the cheap labor, you all can afford those 99cent burguers that you wouldnt have to buy if you had a decent job and education.
