The personal fitness test that people are required to do in the military are different among the two genders. There are clearly two distinct charts with different requirements. Yet, when I was interviewing a woman in the army, she said the physical requirements were the same.

It is not just physical requirements that are different. When we went to the field, the men marched, carrying their full field pack, canteens, weapon, bayonet, the whole nine yards.
The women rode out to the field.
Yes, the requirements are different; but, then, men and women ARE different.
The part that bothers me is, women always claim they are paid less than men. Well, when they do less, they SHOULD be paid less, but men and women in the military are paid the same amount, even though women do less.

Because it's an absolute lie that men and women are equal in everything. They are built differently physically, and any idiot knows it. But the woman in the army probably thinks she had the same test....they wouldn't let her know....after all, that's probably why she joined in the first place....thinking "all is equal".

When women were first added, there were some terrible accidents with women in charge of flying, etc when she wasn't ready. Not sure the situation now....maybe they are more careful who they put where. Don't get me wrong. Women in many ways are stronger than men....but not physically!

And the idea that is only in our recent generations that we have had strong women is also a lie. How do you think our country survived? Because we always had very strong, independent women who took over when their men either died, or weren't there to work a farm or ranch...the women did it!...They could drive mule teams, covered wagons, or whatever else was needed.

Well, to tell you the truth the difference is their body's ability to do the physical exercise that they are required to do.
If you ever notice that Men can do more push up than women is because men uses both of their muscles on their torso more of manual labor than a woman would. And if you see that women can do more crunches or abdominal work out than man is because their stomach muscles and their pelvic muscles are build to withstand such exercise, also because their muscles are build to be able to bear a child.
On running, it is a matter of endurance some men can do it and some women can do it. However, since this world was dominate by men before the women's emancipation, men are generally expected to do more than women because of how society takes as paternal leadership than it is maternal leadership.
So, that is basically why it is different in the military and anywhere else for that matter.

The purpose of the test is to measure general physical fitness. Since men and women are physiologically different - the results have to be weighed to account for those differences.

For example: If you set the number of push-ups the same (40) for both men and women then a male fat slob would pass the test while a female who can compete in a decathlon would fail.

The whole purpose behind the test is to determine who is 'physically fit' and who is not.

Heres an occasion. in case you took a million guy and a million women , same age same physique build, and gave them a similar paintings out application for 6 months, the guy may well be way more suitable. its in simple terms the way mens bodies are equipped, they're meant to have the skill to get relatively reliable, women have not have been given any choose too

It is because men and women ARE different. They are different physically in many different aspects and personally I'm thankful that they are. I like women and if they weren't different, well I'd be lonely.
