We Are Atheists Because...
1.There is no proof of the existence of god.
2.There is no need of, or use for, a god.
3.A good god would be useless if it were not powerful.
4. A powerful god would not deserve worship if he were not good.
5. There is no all-powerful good god; otherwise there would be no imperfection.
6. If this is the best world god can make, the stories of Heaven must be lies.
7. History shows that godism is accompanied by ignorance and superstition.
8. There has never been such intolerance and persecution as godists have practiced.
9. Godism had to be fought when humankind made its successive steps toward science, liberty, and reform.
10. Godism was invented in the earliest days of mankind's ignorance. It is incredible that primitive humans guessed wrongly about everything else, but discovered the truth about the origin of life. Everything about which science has discovered the origin was claimed previously to have been the work of a god. Godism recedes when a new fact is discovered. No new discovery ever supports a theistic explanation of anything.
11. All revelation proves, on investigation, to be human, and generally fraudulent.
12. Godism is consistent with crime, cruelty, envy, hatred, malice, and uncharitableness.
FYI, Atheism Teaches That...
There is no heavenly father.
Humankind must protect the orphans and foundlings, or they will not be protected.
There is no god to answer prayer.
Man must hear and help man.
There is no hell.
We have no vindictive god or devil to fear or imitate.
There is no atonement or salvation by faith.
We must face the consequences of our acts.
There is no beneficent or malevolent intent in nature.
Life is a struggle against preventable and unpreventable evils. The cooperation of humankind is the only hope of the world.
There is no chance after death to "do our bit."
We must do it now or never.
There is no divine guardian of truth, goodness, beauty, and liberty.
These are attributes of humankind. We must defend them or they will perish from the earth.

How can we sin if we do not believe that sort of thing is yet another scare tactic. I love not having to try and stay inside the box when it comes to things religion can not answer not to mention I do not have to make up an answer as long as it doesn't go against the deity and supposedly his or her book.
Jay, thats what praying for your sin to be forgiven is for. So people can "sin" and be able to be taken into this heaven as a reward.

It makes no different for me. Since religions mostly aim to teach us to become a better person, not having a religion but having good moral principles are the same as religions teach things that are similar to moral principles too. As long as you do good, having a religion or not doesn't matter.

The biggest problem with religion is that interferes with progress - particularly in the biological sciences. Evolutionary biology and stem cell research are two of the most important areas of study for mankind.

It is the freedom to guide life by my own principles.
Seriously, not believing keeps my mind focused on life and the important things, not irrelevant rules dictated by a preacher or mullah. And being skeptical means it's hard to get ripped off by bogus advertisements and snake oil salesmen!
Not going to church is also great. I used to meet a lot of ignorant, close-minded people there and now I can avoid them without feeling guilty about the invisible sky man.

Reality is not a popularity contest. A hurtful truth will serve you better than a sweet fantasy. In today’s world we cannot afford to rely on, or be lead by, hopes, good feelings, ancient mysticism, or dreams, we need truth or as close as we can get to it.

It's the freedom to not worry about being right or wrong.
Religious people struggle with whether they are going to be punished or rewarded. Religious people verify their beliefs by trying to convince others that they are correct.

It's the pleasure of seeing the universe as a wonder without interposing a deity between me and the universe.
It's making ethical decisions on the basis of reducing suffering and improving the world rather than pleasing some judgmental sky-daddy.
And it's knowing that we are all equal, no one better or more beloved than another, simply because we hold a silly superstitious belief.

Freedom, without a doubt. Nothing more irritating that someone telling me I MUST do this or that or else.....
I wouldn't claim to be right but I would say that my decision feels right for me.
