This year, the fireworks will be launched from the traditional location on the East River between 23rd and 42nd Streets and from a location near the South Street Seaport.
The celebration will begin at 7:00 pm with the first firework set to explode into color over the East River at approximately 9:20 pm. If you can't make it in person, you can catch the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks live on NBC starting at 9 pm.
Check out the link, it will tell you the best places to go watch the fireworks. Have fun!

The 4th of July Fireworks begin at 9pm. They will last 30minutes. Don't go later, otherwise you will miss it!
I know this, because I'm going to view it...as I do every year...whereever I can see it.
Some less crowded areas to view it: West Side walkway highway around 20s/30s, Winter Garden - West side lower manhattan area, Brooklyn promenade. Pretty much everywhere you go, it will be crowded. the best place I've been is on the west side highway area.
have a great time!
