no man or woman can compare to Christ's impact on earth.
I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him. –Napoleon

Some do not wish to accept that Jesus, the carpenter's son,
born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth, in the line of David, during the rule of Herod, in a land controlled by Rome, ever really existed.
Fine.
BTW, as i understand it, the scholars of Islam accept that he was a real person.
And why not? Both Jesus and the Muslims trace their lineage through Abraham, and Noah, and Adam.
So if you want to question the existence of the man Jesus, You might have to question his ancestors too.
And some of those ancestors were your ancestors.
So let's decide where in the lineage the last one is real and all before that are myth. Can we do that please.

I am so with you! I'm an atheist, but I'm a history major too, and I LOVE studying Christianity. Especially the evolution of the Christian state - the way Christians justified using violence, and how this changes through time. I'm supposed to be choosing a thesis now... aah! ;)

There are accounts of Jesus and documents telling of him.
They have been hidden, destroyed, or altered. If you knew the true account of Jesus you might be surprised at the reason the Roman church has hidden these things.

Ermm.. you know, when we try to figure out if a person existed, we usually go by things like, historical documents. Can't find any of those which involve Jesus, that are not interpolations, and even if they were written, they were written after Jesus died (Josephus)

Yeah, I rest my case as to why christians should back the f*ck off and leave everyone else the f*ck alone. They have ruled all for two thousand plus years for christ sake - haven't they had enough yet? When is it enough, so that they will move on with their lives and let use evolve?
