Why would he include the books of Chronicles? Philemon? Song of Solomon? These books are, to be blunt useless. They are not, in any way, spiritually edifying or uplifting. What lessons can be learned from them? Why would an all-knowing creator put them in his Bible?

Thank you for your time.

The All Knowing would put them there to share but a part of what He knows in Order to communicate some point to the reader. Which said point, is unique to each reader, based on the relative experience of the Reader. It is useless to you, because, frankly, you do not relate.

Therefore, instead of ridiculing the Book, shouldn't you ridicule yourself for spending so much time taking in information you cannot use in your everyday life?

For starters God did not write the Bible. He used man as a vessel and spoke his words through them. These books you are claiming to be useless actually do have purpose. Perhaps you do not understand those books just like you don't understand how illogical it is to claim that you are an atheist. Each book of the Bible was ordained by God for some reason. There are many representations found in the books that you mentioned. We cannot understand all of God's reasons because after all He is God. However if we are truly open and searching we will begin to understand more but are we really open if we are buried only in trying to disprove God and his Bible? Maybe we'd be better off giving him a chance? In the depth of every man's heart is a knowing that there is a god or some higher force, most of humanity up until recently would have agreed. I’d be a wiser investment of our time to figure out who this higher being is rather than trying to deny our convictions (really that is all you are doing) or at the very least just admit that you won't serve God because there is one.

-there is a way to be open and still test God and his Bible and it is a great way to learn because he is God and he will win. "if you search you will find" BUT It has to be a true search one with openess and not a denial that serves to ease your conviction.

best of luck in your quest for truth.

I don't think that they are useless.

God allows many things to exist that are not in any way spiritually edifying or uplifting. Its a good thing too, otherwise, as an atheist, you would cease to exist, right? :-) He is allowing you to remain on the earth that He created.

I like the Song of Solomon. I think that we can learn a lot from it. About passion, about love, about desire. It is all in there for a purpose. Maybe you should ask God to show you why He would put that in His book.

Anyway, it isn't the parts that are mysterious and that you don't understand that should concern you. It's the parts that you do understand but aren't following that should concern you :-)

Well, to you they seem useless. That might sound harsh and possibly judgemental, but I'm trying not to sound judgemental. But sometimes, when you are really horny, you just read the book where Solomon, I believe, describes his honeymoon with his wife. I'm just joking.

He might know that someone maybe will really need one of them sometime and if they aren't in the Bible for the person when they need it, then that person might just majorly fall from the point there at.

For instance, I was once really bored with God and the Bible and everything. So, I just opened the Bible to some book that I had never heard of before. The book of Tobit, and let's just say that I love that book. It's absolutely hillarious, Tobit loses his eyesight because birds take a dump in his eyes when he is sleeping. I don't know about you, but I thought and still think that is hillariously stupid.

All the books of the Bible...also known as the ' canon.'.....have a common theme.
The eventual elimination from this earth of having to die,,,caused by Adam and Eve, and rectified by Jesus' death.
Everything in between is a history of the Jews and rules on how to live a good and Godly life.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

First (and it is very important) we need all of the books in the bible. if you have some favorites, it does not mean that the rest are wrong (or useless), as i see it, all oft he chronicles are a standing proof that the bible is true (after all the archaeological discoveries, some scientists start relying on it, as on a historical book).
Second, why would you even question the songs of Solomons? i found it very inspiring.

God gave Torah, then bible. They are all came with the Prophets for the tribes. The bible & torah were for certain ethnics.

The last prophet was Muhamad and the immaculate AlQuran, not for certain tribes/ethnics, but for all human & races in this world.

Unlike the previous Holy books before, God, in the AlQuran has assured that the purity of words/verses are preserved .

In this Quran, 1400 years ago, some science discoveries today have already been written in there.

Example:

First of all, earth being layed out like a carpet is speaking metaphorically, how do we know is because in other parts of Quran it says that earth is round and also moving using scientific notations:

[079:030] He made the earth egg-shaped.

this is about the shape of the earth. now why would God say earth is flat in one part and then say egg shaped in other, that is because he didnt, the verse you are talking about is speaking metaphorically it is not talking about shape of the earth. now in this verse it says egg shaped, not just chicken egg, so it goes perfectly parallel with science.

[015:022] And We send the fecundating (to impregnate or fertilize) winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.

now how would an illiterate man know that the winds are fecundating wind, that causes rain.

"Thou seest the mountains and thinkest them firmly fixed: but they shall pass away as the clouds pass away: (such is) the artistry of God, who disposes of all things in perfect order: for he is well acquainted with all that ye do. (The Noble Quran, 27:88)"

now this verse describes the earths motion, you see there is a verse where it says mountains are attached to earth and in this verse it says mountains move like the clouds do, now if you put it together it creates a rotating earth. that is the artistry of God.

"It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its orbit with its own motion. (The Noble Quran, 21:33)"

And God has also described the existence of Himself in the AlQuran, in the verses named AL IKHLAS (Sincerity).

Here is how it sounds like:

Al-Ikhlas (Sincerity)

112.001 Kul Huwallah Hu Ahad
112.002 Allah Hus Samad
112.003 Lam Yalid Walam Yulad
112.004 Wa Lam Yakunlahu Kufuwan Ahad.

Do you want to know what is the translation of the verses?

Here it is. http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/112.qmt.html

It is because you do not understand. Everything in the bible is Gods word, you cannot just except some of it, you must take it all or nothing. Let the bible speak.

Rom 10:14 ¶ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher

Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Isa 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little

2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Rom 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Exd 31:3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed [is] he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed [is] he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

God also left out some other "useless" books, like what happened before the Earth was created, and what will happen when this "new Earth" is created.

Funny how God doesn't know what happens before or after man's existence, definitely sounds like the Bible was inspired by an all-knowing God, and not man......oh wait?
