No on the Llama, Bersa makes a more reliable .380. I like the Kel Tec, lots of cops I know use them for backup and off duty. I sometimes carry my Bulgarian Makarov (not a PA63!!!) and depend on it with my life. Probably 2500 rounds and not one failure or misfeed. You must get Pearce grips and change all the springs with Wolff springs...also I get a friend to load very hot jhp loads for me.

Check out this site: www.budsgunshop.com

Select the handgun option and take a look at what this Internet arms seller has to offer.

The guns you list are on the cheap end of the spectrum and for just a few dollars more, you can get a better gun.

Bersa, for instance, makes a much better 380 than Llama does. Bud is selling one for $266.57
Bersa also makes a very nice 9mm which the store is selling for $284.21
Taurus also makes the Millennium series in a 9mm, which sells for $268.42

You can also check out some auction sites like:

www.auctionarms.com and www.gunbroker.com

Sometimes you can find a real bargain on these sites.

Well i see everyone is telling you choices other then the ones on your list, but thats to be expected.I mean sure i could give you other examples of others that would be better but of the ones you have on your list,i would have no problem with the kel-tec 9mm.And i wouldnt get anything smaller then that.that .380 and 9x18 i think you would be disappointed in.Keltec makes good guns i think you would be satisfied with it. That llama brand is junk and the makrov is actually a russian made up bullet and way to wimpy.I honestly would go with the kel-tec you will like it.

Provided you can legally carry/possess a handgun the Llama .380 will serve you well so long as you take the time to practice and become proficient in its safe use (it is a near copy of the 1911) and takes some practice to master. Of the ones you've mentioned, that is the one I'd choose. The .9x18 is sometimes hard to find ammo for, but that would be my second choice of the ones you've proposed, with the Kel-Tec being my last choice.

Lots of people trying to guess their way around this question. I applaude them and agree with (Ronhonda99 and and Gretch16pc.) If you have a bodyguard job a one shot put down is best. 9x18 and 380 acp are nice to shoot but lack knock down power. 9x19 is better but if you have someone determined you have to be good or get lucky. Dont go cheap when a life is in the balance! Read all the .40 sw stuff and saw case ruptures. Best to go with a long time proven round....45 ACP!! Plenty of compact models to chose from.

If you just have to have a semi-auto, why not take a good look at a Colt M-1911 in .45 ACP? The Combat Commander or Lightweight Commander and the Officers' ACP models are dandy packing pistols that pack quite a wallop.

There are plenty of M-1911 types on the market besides the Colt, and they fit small hands better than most other semi-automatics.

Someone mentioned that a hit with a small bullet is better than a miss with a big bullet. They are right, but a hit with a big bullet, at moderate velocity, is better than a hit with a smaller bullet. I am a great fan of .44 S&W SPL, .45 ACP, and oddly enough the .357 Magnum.

If you can stick with a revolver, try a Model 19 or Model 66 Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum, and fit it with service style grips.

It is NOT the caliber that fits the hand but the grip of the gun it's self. Check out Glock's G23 or G27 they both shoot the 40 Cal. S&W, ahole lot more punch then that little 380 (witch I would not point at anything but a paper target), or even more powerful then the 9mm. Go and pick up a few different pistols at your local shop/store and see what feels good in your hand Not the sales man or yor friend. We all have a different feel and what he or she may like you may not.

Good luck in your choice.

The Makarov is a good gun; it has only a few moving parts, very reliable like the AK's. Ammo however is not as redily available as Luger 9. Try to get the Russian, East German or Bulgarian made Maks, avoid the Chinese made.

The Springfield is very good, as is the new S&W M&P series, both more expensive than the Mak but easier to service and accessorize.

If the 9MM fits your hand that's the one to get its the largest Caliber you mention it will have the most stopping power if its required and the 9MM ammo is very cheap to buy!

Better to have it and never need to use it then need it and not have it!

The 380 is too wimpy. Go with the Mak or Keltec.
