In terms of manpower, it's China

If we're talking sheer military power the only two on the list are Russia and present day China. They're the only ones that can compete. The UK is advanced but has a small armed forces, which is also the case with many other European countries.

Iran is the most advanced of the mid east countries but still is behind the US and Russia. Most of their technology are still late 90's models such as the MiG fighter.

China doesn't have the same advanced weaponry as we do but they have a standing army that is 3x the size of our own. That alone will deter any thought of agressive act against them probably forever.

Probably Iran. They do have a fairly large military, a semi-hostile attitude to the US and there are rumors flying around of their elite Quds Force assisting Iraqi insurgents target US servicemen.

Otherwise, I'd say China... China has a massive army, navy and airforce that is continuously modernising. If things get serious enough, they also have nuclear weapons to boot. However, China and the US do have a reasonably diplomatic relationship, so they're not much of a hostile threat.

The worst threat to the US is China because they have nearly taken control of our economy and by doing this they have the industrial power to create a large amount of War goods if ever needed. They could also create a very large army with all the people in there country. Getting into a conflict with China is very slim but if it ever happens we would surely pay the price.

All Americans oppose any nation making threat towards us.

We have such a large and powerful Navy/Marines/Air Force/Army that no single Nation poses a threat. I have read reports that it could take the combined efforts of 180+ countries to be a threat. (China and Russia not counted in that)

With 12 Carrier Battle Groups of our own we have 12 more than China and Russia combined. The only other Carriers belong to France and Great Britain adding 5 Light Carriers to our 12.

Russia is more likely to join NATO than attack us.

China needs us to buy all the crap they manufacture.

N. Korea and Iran speak loudly because they have NO stick.

If you meant opposes - that would be the US as we do not want to be attacked.
If you meant poses then I believe China. they have the weaponry & worse they have too many people. Countries who are overpopulated & lack respect for human rights tend to have little concern for their deaths. The US mourns or at least complains about every lost soldier. They could throw a lot of soldiers at us. Numbers can make the difference when weaponry is close.

By far, Iran is not my answer, it's russia. They still have a gigantic amount of fire power sitting over there, and the Russian military hasn't gotten any smaller. But they would never actually start a war again, unless they got another Kruschov in power.

poses or opposes? with opposes it could mean what country is against the US' biggest threat. If the biggest threat is China, the country 'opposed' to it would probably be ... Russia???

Don't you mean "poses"? And my money would be on China. They've got the manpower, the weapons, a big chunk of land, and a lot of dangerous allies, not only in their part of the world but also in the Middle East.
