Why do people bring up what they have and own as a way to get more friends? Money isn't happiness. Why would a brand name make a person cool?

They are insecure about something else and are trying to make themselves look or feel good to compensate for what they are lacking.
Maybe they are thinking they wish they had your personality or charm but don't so they have to make themselves look good some how. Don't make it right but some may be OK people and are just trying to get by in this crazy world like the rest of us.........

You're absolutely right. Those people have insecurities. Just laugh at them internally and be happy for who you are. Don't judge a person by the amount of opportunities in their lives, judge them by what they do with those opportunities.

They want to be around others with money. It keeps them from knowing they are not thinking and have no personality.

money doesnt mean happiness , but money implies success , succes implies smartness or being good at whatever they do , which , specially for men , make thier ego larger than their bank account ... so they think they are better and more capable

I don't think it's always to impress someone. Sometimes my Coach bags and Versace sunglasses just come up in conversation...

because they can afford things others can not. But not everyone is that way.
Plus brandnames dont make anyone cool not if they sport it just to be better than everyone.
