I think that Vladamir Putin has a legitimate gripe with the US and NATO. Although Putin has accomplished tremendous strides in repairing the damage caused by Boris Yeltsin, Putin needs to draw a line in the sand in regard to what Russia will not tolerate. Russia was once a powerful (although corrupt) nation under the USSR, but was turned into Uncle Sam's whore under Yeltsin. Putin puts on a good face when working with President Bush and NATO, but Putin is nobody's fool; Putin is shrewd, intelligent, and strong.

Vladimir Putin would not push the world toward WW3. Putin understands that Russia's prestige and survival comes from strength, and building a mighty military force (including better nukes and an improved defensive shield) is in Russia's best interests. The powerful are respected for being strong; the powerful do not need to negotiate with the weak. Yeltsin made Russia weak, but Putin has created international respect for Russia regaining its strength.

It is good. Putin and Bush are way to smart to do such a thing. The World is one big market place and these two would not screw that up. They will come to an agreement, just watch. Besides, it's not Russia that the USA should be concerned about, it's Iran. Let's hope Iran implodes under weight of its middle class as they are denied gasoline and other luxuries.

Because Putin is a callous, power hungry murderer who never really abandoned his own KGB roots. Look at how he handles (or mis-handles) crises in his country. Look how he handles his critics (poisoning them).

Thank God Bush is completely opposite that rat, Putin! Whew!! I'd sure hate to be a Russian citizen under Putin.

Now, if Bush doesn't cave to public opinion, hopefully he'll continue to stand against everything Putin is pushing for.
