YES. Rangers have months more of training than Marines and thier RIP is way harder than just about any other military selection process and that is all before Ranger school which is also an asskicker. RIP only has a 20% success rate so they weed out everyone except those in the best physical and mental condition.

Rangers train in every aspect of combat and have the most advanced equipment and techniques. Comparing a regular Marine to a Ranger is like comparing a highschool football player to an NFL linebacker.

You are talking about different categories. A regular Marine is similar to Army infantry. A Re-con Marine is similar to an Army Ranger. Many times in special operations you will find a mix of the services. Both require intensive training beyond the basic and advanced infantry type training. You also have the Navy Seal and Air Force Commando. If you want to be one you better have tremendous will power and endurance. You don't have to be a big strong man, but you better be able to do anything with your own body weight for extended periods of time. God Bless and go for it!

i've been wondering this too but i couldn't figure out how to word it!!! what's better (not an appropriate word, hang on) Which group is more elite? Well, to be a marine or a ranger you have to be one tough son of a *****, and both are very special. However, Rangers lead the way so I'm going to say given the choice, I'd rather be a Ranger. Marines are beasts too, but the best of the best are US Army Rangers.

I honestly don't think you can join to become a Ranger. From what I've heard you must be selected. Yet from my point of view, it means a lot just to serve in the armed forces no matter the branch.

The second thing, I'm not sure you want to see combat as much as you think you do. Its not glorious or romantic but in truth its downright terrfying if you're not prepared. Then again, these are just my thoughts. Happy shootin' partner!
