1 Peter 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
Rejoice and be glad because Jesus Christ is glorified in your silent suffering. It is the part of being a Christian the world does not see. Rejoice and again I say unto you rejoice!

If you can, disassociate yourself with those people. You certainly would not be out of line protecting yourself. If it is family, that would make it difficult. Lies are almost always found out though, unfortunately they can do tremendous damage that can't always be undone. The Bible speaks of this in a sense when it says there are some who will call good evil and evil good. (thats a paraphrase) Ask God to intervene. Your reward for being honest may not come until you leave this world, but keep in mind God knows whats going on.

you got a part of my life to a tee. I try to avoid letting it affect me emotionally or impact my functional life . I forgive those who are not aware and instead of seeking vengeance which is losing the battle I only seek to admonish and helpfully correct by either educating or pointing to resources for a better paradigm or rarely employ a tactful subtle means of effecting change anonymously I'm usually far to blunt though.you have to grow especially thick skin to tolerate in order to be good.
for instance in life saving I was taught that if a drowning person is combative you have to over come them in order to save them from downing this may not always apply but carries somewhat into human relations and sometimes for thanked for it later.

I stop associating with those people. It becomes harder if its family. I guess that you can only pray for them, and correct things if you need too. My brother is big on this sort of thing. I try to live right, and not give him anything to say about me.

Unfortunately, it is common. People are many times very false. They are afraid to speak truth, so they slander. They are envious, so they try to humiliate others.
Take it to God. If you look to any human to meet needs that only God can meet, you will be dissappointed.
Look to God to be everything you need. He is faithful, and God is good. He will always keep His promises. God is good, and His love endures forever.

I pray about it and spend a lot of time reading my Bible. I also search for self-help books.
