I'm 14 and I'm going to Finland from California. It's really hard for me to sleep on planes, and i cant take a laptop. and i dont have a portable DVD player. (no chance of getting one, either.) I read and listen to music and stuff, but that gets old after the first 2 hrs. anything i can do to be at least not bored out of my mind? (dont like sudoku or crossword, either.) Please no answers like "periodically offer the person sitting next to u a beano" its so immature and unhelpful.

Most of what I would have suggested has been mentioned. I would suggest sleeping if possible. If the flight is long, it may involve the changing of time zones. Arriving at your destination refreshed is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Some airlines such as Singapore Airlines has an in-flight entertainment system. You can play games against fellow passengers. I would bring a magazine or book to read. Some people bring a portable DVD player. But on many long flights, the airlines will show a movie.

I fly from Helsinki to Western Australia every year.
Now thats a ball breaker of a flight. !

But I like flying ,,I follow the moving maps displays and look out the window often to see what I can see.

One of the nicest looking landscapes that I have seen was the farming land in Ukraine.
Following this is seeing the outline of lights of the coast of India.

Theres lots of movies to choose from now days on flights and games too.

I have never been bored on a flight , so I guess I cant offer a good anti-boredom solution.

Maybe find a good book or buy some new cd's. Maybe write a letter to one of your friends... maybe get a 10-15 dollar digital game and play with it. My friends and I used to guess around the plane to see who was a virgin or not (lame i know, but it passed time!) we laughed a lot too. Or you can stay up all night the night before you leave and sleep all the way through the plane.

Hmm... i often have the same problem. Sometimes its best to try to doze off. Maybe u can read a book, or write one. Who knows, maybe ur air experience will influence you 2 write a novel.
