My boyfriend's family is having a get together for the Forth of July and here was the plan - I was supposed to go up to his grandmothers tomorrow then come home at night because I have work the next morning for a little while.. and then go back up for the rest of the 4th.. My dilemma is my mom just told me that my sister is spending the whole day and night at my house tomorrow with my neice.. and they are both moving to North Carolina in two weeks. (im in NY) I told my boyfriend I have to bail because I want to spend time with them.. he got upset because he already told his family I was going.. I then said well i'll go up after work on wednesday and just skip out on Tuesday.. he still was upset and I feel guilty.. should I??

Compromise. Stay home on the 3rd with your sister and your neice, after all Wednesday is the holiday. Let him go to his family's without you on Tuesday. He probably doesn't want to be a "fifth wheel" with your sister and neice. Then join him after you get out of work on Wednesday. You may have to catch a ride or he can come and get you. Either way, all your bases are covered and he should just get over it, you are going to be together for the actual holiday anyway. It's not fair of him to take away this valuable time from your sister when she's moving out of state.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if there is a way both families can spend at least some of the day together.

Of course not. Your Family should be the most important part of your life and your Boyfriend should respect your wishes or desire to be with your family instead of his. You can always spend time with his Family another time. do whats important to you.

A boyfriend shouldn't make you feel this way. So make a compromise and figure something else. Hope for the best!!
