First off, the Catholic church has nothing to do with religion or Jesus. It is a political organization which specializes in control through guilt. The Vatican is an autonomous government and one of the wealthiest entities in the world. The pope in all his royal robes looks like a KING- not a spiritual leader! The nuns and priests on many occasions (not all) have violated their positions of trust and responsility by abusing children physically and emotionally. These children are now adults and are asking why, knowing that these abuses took place, did the authorities in the church allow this to happen. I happen to know that this still goes on.

That is a sad story. I hope you have recovered from those days. I think many women who became nuns really didn't want to live the life but felt stuck.. How sad for those ladies too. I hope that God will give you an extra measure of grace so that you can forgive them and have your own hurts healed. It is very sad when humans do things that scare off little kids from a loving God. I hope you can see the difference. Each of us will have to give an account to God for the lives we have lived and the hurts we have caused, just remember that we will be forgiven in the same measure that we forgive others. We all fall short and need to be kind. I hope you are OK and that God richly blesses you. To God you will always be His kid.

In the old days when I was in elementary school that was completely true but today, at least in my country I believe is not allowed. I remember one the nuns with a large wood rule that scare every kid in my 1st grade. One time my brother tired of the abuse brake the rule and say: "sister why your are hitting at us". The presence of my parents was requested the next day.
The Catholic nuns were frustrated no doubt.

Maybe they were like the "church lady" and they were trying to beat the Devil out of you or something. You know there was a sect of Catholicism that used to go around banging their heads with boards because they misinterpreted this passage written by the Apostle Paul don't you?
1 Corinthians 9:26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: 27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

I saw a movie about a year ago....it was a true story about 3 girls from Ireland.....they were sent to a school ran by nuns ...it was one of the saddest movies I've ever rented.....they had no contact with the outside world....they did laundry all day, wore the same outfits, and were told when to eat and sleep...if you did something wrong, they either beat you or cut your hair....I guess the schools were finally closed in the sixties....so, I agree with your statement......

Spoken like one who never attended a Catholic school. I had nuns as teachers through grade school and high school. Their example of Christian love and absolute dedication to their students was inspiring, and a major source of spiritual growth for me, for which I will never be able to thank them enough. And that is generally the case. If you don't know what you are talking about, you really should just say nothing, rather than parade your ignorance as a troll.

If you really were beaten and scratched as you claim, why didn't you tell your parents. I have a lot of questions. Was this allowed at the school? How old were you? What grade of school? How long of a period did this occur and how often? Your parents had to see scratch marks or bruises. To answer your question< I really can't imagaine why they would have done this no matter what you did. There are other ways they could have handled discipline if you needed it.

I have "heard" that the Nuns are mean but I can't relate to that because I never attended a Catholic school.
You probably were a good kid but had a few things that did not adhere to their rules.
Forget it. Get over it. It is history. Pops

Could be a lot of things.
They were angry because they "gave up" so much to be what they chose and their expectations weren't met.
They believed it was their "duty" to turn out 'perfect' clones of Catholic faith.
They were sadists in a time where the S & M scene was far, far underground.
Want me to try and think of more, or do you want to have a little fun and figure out a few on your own? ; )

Sorry that happened to you. They don't follow Jesus if they act like that.
The Papacy is paganism wrapped up in a garb of Christianity. Only a few hundred years ago they would have burnt you at the stake.
