Face the truth, you won't pick up the dog crap, you won't take it for walks, your father is correct. I have 2 daughters who promised the moon, put have never picked up the crap from day 1, my dogs are 10 years old now

You can finish school, get a job, move out and get your own place and then show your dad that you are responsible, can hold a job, pay for your own dog and all it's needs and can take care of your dog properly.
If dad thinks that he is going to get stuck raising your dog, he's probably right, he knows you better than we do.. If he doesn't trust you to be responsible, perhaps you should do more research, learn more about dogs and their needs and get a dog in the future.

well i want a dog 2 but my rents say im not responsible enough. how old are u and r u good kid or da bad the way u can prove that u can take care of 1 is to dogsit ur neighbores dog and make sure ur dads watches u

Get something smaller like a hamster to establish credibility. Or write up a detailed report or contract outlining your responsibilities with relevant consequences if you do not hold up your end of the bargain. Keep in mind that dogs also cost a lot of money - so maybe you could offer to give some of your allowance towards his expenses.

dogs are a lot of work. i would try somthing smaller like a guinea pig but if you are set on a dog start getting the facts. they cost a lot to take care of. also start doing chores w/o ur dad asking u. again i think dogs are realy more of a family pet but i guess thats up 2 u.

well first of all youre dad wont let you get a dog if u cant even keep youre room clean or do youre chores bc of responcibility so i would start helping around the house more and suck up lol -- alot -- then act sad and \ask him worked for me :)

Try to show him that you've become more responsible, show him you can handle a dog.
Take charge of some things.
Prove that you can handle and tale responcibilty.
