Jesus belonged to a religion, he was a Jew under the laws of Moses, as a christian, I'm just a reformed Jew who has accepted Jesus as the CHRIST . MESSIAH
From the Hebrew root verb ma·shach´, meaning “smear,” and so “anoint.” (Ex 29:2, 7) Messiah (ma·shi´ach) means
“anointed” or “anointed one.” The Greek equivalent is Khri·stos´, or Christ.—Mt 2:4, ftn
In the Christian Greek Scriptures the transliterated form Mes·si´as occurs in the Greek text at John 1:41, with the explanation,
“which means, when translated, Christ.” (See also Joh 4:25.) Sometimes the word Khri·stos´ is used alone with reference to the
one who is or who claims to be the Messiah, or the Anointed One. (Mt 2:4; 22:42; Mr 13:21) In most of its appearances, though,
Khri·stos´ is accompanied by the personal name Jesus, as in the expressions “Jesus Christ” or “Christ Jesus,” to designate him
as the Messiah. At times the word is used alone but specifically referring to Jesus with the understanding that Jesus is The
Christ, as in the statement, “Christ died for us.”—Ro 5:8; Joh 17:3; 1Co 1:1, 2; 16:24; see CHRIST.
now was Jesus born the Christ? lets look at some scriptures that showed
(John 1:29-34) 29 The next day he beheld Jesus coming toward him, and he said: “See, the Lamb of God that takes away the
sin of the world! 30 This is the one about whom I said, Behind me there comes a man who has advanced in front of me, because
he existed before me. 31 Even I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing in water was that he might be made
manifest to Israel.” 32 John also bore witness, saying: “I viewed the spirit coming down as a dove out of
heaven, and it remained upon him. 33 Even I did not know him, but the very One who sent me to
baptize in water said to me, ‘Whoever it is upon whom you see the spirit coming down and
remaining, this is the one that baptizes in holy spirit.’ 34 And I have seen [it], and I have borne
witness that this one is the Son of God.”
so Jesus didn’t receive the Holy Spirit until he was baptized thats when he became the Christ
until then he was Jesus the perfect man not recognized as a prophet
(Matthew 13:54-58) . . .Where did this man get this wisdom and these powerful works? 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is
not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with
us? Where, then, did this man get all these things?” 57 So they began to stumble at him. But Jesus said to them: “A prophet is
not unhonored except in his home territory and in his own house.” 58 And he did not do many powerful works there on account of
their lack of faith.
(Mark 3:19-21) . . .And he went into a house. 20 Once more the crowd gathered, so that they were not able even to eat a
meal. 21 But when his relatives heard about it, they went out to lay hold of him, for they were saying: “He has gone out of his
mind.. . .
you see his own family didn’t recognize him as the messiah which he wasn’t till he was baptized & then some
still didn’t (John 7:3-5) . . .Therefore his brothers said to him: “Pass on over from here and go into Ju·de´a, in order that your
disciples also may behold the works you do. 4 For nobody does anything in secret while himself seeking to be known publicly. If
you do these things, manifest yourself to the world.” 5 His brothers were, in fact, not exercising faith in him.
In time his followers became known as Christians, first they were known as “the Way”, but as a follower of Jesus
the Jew I believe the same things that he believed, but I’m his deciple, so that makes me a christian.

Christos is the first mention of a name and it was slang calling those who followed Christ wierdos. Because they did not believe Him or us. By the way fear is caused by not believing or understanding.

HE wanted a simple obedient group of followers. HE did not want a diverse collection of beliefs which are NOT biblically based.

yes he did. all it means is christ like. and we are to be christ like. and Jesus wanted us to do that.
as i said christian means to be christ like. and he wanted us to be christ like. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh. he also told us to do everything in his name. baptize, heal, cast out demons etc. and they did worship Jesus in revelations. but Jesus on earth was human and flesh like us. he was teaching us how to live. why some say baptism is not important however if it was not then Jesus would not have done it. it was baptized though to lead the way and for us to do the same.

What He wanted was something that He called The Church. Greek: "Ekklesia" or, "gathering"
"And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew Chapter 16 vs. 18).

No, Jesus encouraged people to worship God not him. People misinterpreted his message.
