my 4 1/2 year old dog who has never used the bathroom in the house started when we moved. He does not do it when we are around. We put him out before we go to bed for about 30 min or so, but when we get up in the morning he has urinated and pooped in my spare room where i get dressed. I haved tryed everthing to get the smell out to and can't do it. It also seems that everytime i clean it with pet cleaner he does it even more. what can i do. He also gets made at my husband when he is out of town or fusses at him and uses his dresser as a bathroom. How can i stop this ? I can't even stand to go in there and get dressed because of the smell how am i to have company stay in there? I need help despertly.

i don't think you understand my question. he has been potty trained. he goes outside and lets us know when he has to go. just at night when we are asleep he goes in the house even if we put him outside before we go to bed. he has never done this before. there is not enough room in my house to put a crate big enough for him to sleep in and be comfortable. i can't block him in the bathroom it is to small there is barly enough roomfor us to move in there and he is a bigg dog

VET. Some UTIs the dog absolutely cannot hold it, it's too urgent. I don't think he's just being malicious. Dogs have to be walked often, especially to do the dirty. If they're not, instinct takes over. There's one kind of cleaner available at the pet store (Nature's something) that's heads and tails above the rest for removing smells.

Can you not "crate" him in the bathroom?

1: DO NOT give him "free roam" of the house until he is trained.

When you away keep him in a crate. Make sure it is comfortable with a few toys i nit.

Watch for any signs of having to eliminate ..turning circles, excessive sniffing,, anxiousness...then take him out immediately and tell him "Go potty"

Be encouraging.

When he goes potty, give him PLENTY of praise and a treat.

The main thing is to NOT give up on him! Keep him in your eye sight at ALL TIMES. If you are busy and he can not be watched, crate him.

Crate him when you cannot watch him...like when you are sleeping.
