Whenever I see a business advertise itself as being Christian, I wonder if that means non Christians should take their business elsewhere. It seems to suggest that non Christians aren't honest. Personally, if I have a choice, I will take my business elsewhere when I see that.

christn 35 res: You've made my point about what I object to in advertising a Christian business. You've assumed it means that they are honest, and that other businesses aren't. I think that is a slap in the face to the many honest businesses that don't wear their religion on their sleeve. You also have no way of knowing if a dishonest business advertises itself as Christian just to fool people who would make that kind of assumption. I prefer to trust the BBB or word of mouth over claims of being Christian.

I think it might be a case of tooting ones own horn. I am a Christian, but I think it is tacky to advertise one's business as "Christian". We are not to make financial gain using the name of our Lord and savior. He is to be worshipped, not used as a means to make money.

I take it to mean the business is ethical and honest, treats the employees well and with respect, is closed on the Sabbath so everyone can worship.

I view it as a very good thing!!

I have worked for places that were not christian based, and because I am a christian I was treated like crap. One place had 40+ employees and many would get the week end off but I would never be allowed the Sabbath off.

Everyone else was allowed to go to their spouses Christmas party , I was not allowed to go.

My husband was injured at work and called me from the ER to get a ride home; I wasn't allowed to leave!!

A Christian based business is telling people that they will be honest.

The reaction of people to reject the business for the basis of Christian owners and mission statement shows their real view on God.
It is sad that people that reject people that try to live a life of community, family values and high moral standards of ethics in business. So if a bar opens up and they skimp on the alcohol i your drink then you would frequent them more. Or if the used car dealership was bringing up used cars from flooded areas to sell without full disclosure you would buy your cars there. Christians are supposed to live by God knowing all and making choices to please God and not make a fast buck no matter the path to do so. The money also that comes into the business will/ should also go to the local church in tithes and offerings that in turn help in the community to counsel marriages and give to the needy that can't make there bills. Help the old people with transportation and meals. Usually it also will not go to an excess life style of fast cars and selfish practices.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with advertising your business as Christian. What you may not know it that alot of America's great businessmen desire to do business with Christians businesses. Why? Because they know that if they do business with Christians they themselves will be blessed. The Rockefellars who were oil tycoons who paid a tenth of their income to churches and became wealthy. They attribute their wealth to supporting churches and Christian businessmen. But many other businessmen have followed the same strategy and became wealthy. Because they understood biblical concepts of getting wealth works.

I think it is fine for Christian businesses to say that they are Christian. I am sure that it attracts many Christian people. As for non Christians they may not care about that fact or they may feel either repelled or more confident in the business ethics.

I'm Christian and it kind of annoys me. Just be honest in your dealings. There is no need to make special ads saying that you are a Christian business..

Whats so bad about it? I do think some of it gets ridiculous, you know, "Christian Real Estate Companies". What are they going to do? Get you a house built by Christians near a church?

The only real businesses that should be Christian are places like publishing companies, record companies for CDs, maybe movie studios, etc.

Why not? Truly being Christian means that we will be getting an honest price and hopefully hassle-free service. I would like that as a selling point when looking for a retailer.

I personaly think it could be a 50/50 deal there..... some advertise it as such to be snooty and some advertise it that way to show they are not ashamed or afraid to say who and what they are....it all comes down to taking a stand for what you believe in.... dont you ever do the same ? take a stand ? if not it would be a total surprise to me.... every person I have met in my life, all 49 yrs of it, has taken a stand against or for something....... God bless

I agree. A business that advertises itself that way will not get my business.
