About a year ago I was in a Rape and Demestic Violence Group and everything that's said there is confidential of course. Well, there was this Mormon lady there, I think her name was Christian. And her husband worked for Hewert Packered. However it's spelt. And he went to court for beating his wife. And the judge let him off free because he was an outstanding citizen. And his wife was talking about getting a divorce. Well, Just today I read the front page of the News paper and it was talking about my town opening a 4th ward. It said the New Bishops name and that his wife's name is Christian and that he works at Hewert Packered. I put the two together in my mind and I think it's the same guy whose wife was in the Demestic violence Group because he beat her. Well, I've read stories of people getting excommunicated for bringing stuff like this up about authorities in the church. I don't want to start crap. But what would you do?

Also, the church refuses to baptize me because of an assult from 3 or 5 years ago. The longer I stay in this Church the more screwed up I think that is. This guy beat his wife a year ago and is becomming Bishop and I can't baptized.

Rarely, but once in a while, some one receives a calling for which they are unworthy. At the time they are called and again during a conference we have an opportunity to sustain them or object.

This is far from a symbolic function. I know of a case were a man was called as Bishop and his wife and children raised their hands in opposition. Opposing a calling is not casting a vote. The person will be asked to provide grounds, and if substantial, the calling will not be extended. If there is some one living out of harmony with the teachings of the church, it is a members duty to oppose the sustaining.

Your additional details are puzzling. You say that the Church refuses to baptize you because of an assault 3-5 years ago, yet you say that you are in the Church. If you have not been baptized then you are not in the Church. The Church would not refuse to baptize you if you were repentent.

Now, you remember hearing a woman complain that her husband beat her, but evidently there was not enough evidence to support that claim in court. Why should we believe her claims, if indeed you remember correctly? And how do you know that the person you remember is the same person whose husband is now the bishop. It could be a coincidence of names and occupations. Lots of Mormons work for Hewlett-Packard.

At any rate the thing to do is to talk to the stake president and tell him what you know. I think it is highly unlikely that he never heard of the man going to court because his wife made a claim that he beat her. And it is highly unlikely that the stake president would have called the man to be a bishop without first asking his wife for her approval. And it is highly unlikely that she would have agreed to let her husband be a bishop if he had beat her.

So, you must not have your facts right. But if you think you do, by all means talk to the stake president. No one will hold it against you for doing so.

First off, I don't speak for the LDS church, but I am a member. When I was on my mission in Vegas, there were very few things that could keep you from being baptized and as I recall, domestic violence was one of them, but it had to be recent. 3-5 years seems a long time to me.

As for the Bishop, talk to the stake president. You should be able to get his contact information. If he gives you the cold shoulder, then work your way up the ladder. Don't let something like this go, Fight!

There's an old saying the church is true the members aren't the best thing you can do is to talk to his wife and encourage her to tell the stake President what he did. Sadly you can't do much but if his wife tells someone there is a bit more power behind it. This does tend to happen it's very sad and it makes me fear for the people in the ward or stake that the unworthy bishop or stake president is presiding over. it's very sad but really just encourage the wife to take it to the correct authorities.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and tell you that you should try, if you can, to first talk to the lady. If you can't, you can call the stake president, or another bishop of another ward. You might not know what happens, you might not get thru to anyone, but at least, you will know you did something. If no one does anything, there is always "karma" or "what goes around comes around", or "God has a little corner of hell waiting for people like that".

Call family services give all of the information you have including the smallest details.

As a Bishop.Priest,Psychologist or any confessor we are obligated to report acts of violence, depending on your state there may be a statute of limitations or not on violent crime.

Covering for someone because it protects an institution is wrong
