I recently posted a question calling atheists out on a flaw in your belief structure.. thats not important to what im asking now, but i got some responses in it that said "the overwelming evidence that God doesnt exist..." yet these folks failed to provide me with some details to this evidence. I was wondering if some of you could help me out in discusing some of these details.

Also please note that im not a believer that Evolution is proof that God doesnt exist,.. so please dont use it. I would get into a conversation of why i believe this to be but I dont got all night heh.. Ill be watching and responding to your thoughts. Thanks for answering.

When you guys (atheists) make a comment like There is overwhelming evidence against their being a God.. The burden of proof does not fall to me, it falls to the people saying that .. i would like to hear from them. If you never said it then you can just go away, i dont need or want your answer

your contradiciton to perfection is flawed. I think we can all agree that Humans are not perfect. So how are we even able to define perfection? Secondly whos to say that the concepts of creation isnt an expression of perfection?

see if anyone is paying attention still.. this is a classic example of denial. One guy posts that I dont believe in Evolution when i specifically said that i do. weird huh?

sigh..ill say again. If youve never used the phrase "the overwelming evidence that god doesnt exist" or something along those lines.. you can go. I dont need your answers. My question is specifically to those that did say something like this. or have this belief that there is OVERWELMING EVIDENCE that God doesnt exist. And also i feel the need to reiterate READ MY WHOLE POST. if you just read it in parts your not getting the whole picture of what im asking. Its that simple and only takes 3 minutes to read

Fred you get the boobie prize ,...grats
Even if i believed you are correct in saying the Bible is a poor translation from being translated into different languages. How could ever a book about a subject be evidence to prove or disprove anything. Scientists wrote a book once on how the earth was flat. eh they were wrong... Einstein wrote books on his theories..some of which have been proven wrong. He wrote some on other theories and has been proven correct.

ahhh simon thanks,.. now were getting somewhere. Someone finally gave it a go. Ok so why would a God that loves everyone destroy the world except for one family.. of corse this is getting to be one of those mudane agruments that Atheists like to use but thats ok, and its not really disproving the existence of God, thats ok too. To answer you why this was the case in the flood. God is loving. Yes! God is also Holy and devine. Perhaps he has a design for us and they people that lived at the time were not following it. Let me ask this if you were knitting together a great mosaic of some sort and somewhere along the way the pattern was getting messed up. and you could see the end result and the end result was not good. Wouldnt you start over? because you are a master of your work.

What im looking for is the evidence that God doesnt exist.. Some of you atheists said this and thats what I want to hear about. The overwelming historical, scientific evidence that there is NO God. Not once did I ask for No evidence. your joke is making as much sense as your belief system

dear, the evidence that he doesn't exist is the lack of evidence that he does.

same reason we don't believe in fairies or unicorns. get it?

"it is hard to see what other evidence there could be for something NOT being there other than the failure to find any evidence that it IS there. something which does not exist leaves no mark, so it can only be an absence of marks of its existence that can provide evidence for its non-existence"

The evidence that god doesn't exist is the same for any other imaginary thing, the lack of evidence to support its existence.

Just as the lack of evidence for a teapot in orbit around the sun is minimal, the evidence a supreme being exists just isn't impressive.

Philosophically, if something cannot be proven to exist, it is logical to believe that it does not.

Scientifically, evidence of god or of events caused by god have never been discovered and documented.

Logically, since every culture has, or did have its own concept of a supreme being(s), but none of them reconcile, it is likely that each is just as incorrect as the next, the result of human nature (fear of death?) rather than divine intervention.

Which kind of proof were you looking for?

No, once again you distort the responses you got.

There is no evidence to support the existence of god. Just as there is no evidence to support the existence of unicorns.

So it we do not believe in unicorns, due to lack of evidence, then we should not believe in god, for exactly the same reason.

Or do you believe in unicorns, dragons and pixies?

If you want to talk about a specific God, then there may well be contradictions or things proven incorrect in the acts or definitions described in the holy books of that particular God.

For example a God that loves everyone and has given them free will to live their lives as they want would be contradicting that position if he flooded the entire world killing everyone but one family. That would be evidence for the non-existence of that particular God, but not for a god in general.

Yeah.. Evolution is probably the biggest argument against the existence of God, so if you're that determined to believe in God, you'll probably blow off all other evidence.

That God exists is an existential claim anyway, so we can't expect to find "Oh, this proves it!" evidence anyway. This isn't Blue's Clues. There's no evidence that Santa Claus doesn't exist, either. Do you know what I mean?

we don't have a belief structure- and the sheer lack of evidence of your god is evidence all in itself. There is NOTHING to indicate that such an entity exists other than books written years ago and passed down to be translated and butchered by whoever wants to dirty their hands with the job. My question to you is why you would not demand more than a religious text and a lot of heresay. Don't you feel your life is worth having that info if you're gonna devote it to a god? Are you that willing to just take written text in place of proof? Really?

I won't waste your time with an analogy for argumentative purposes or spew rhetoric at you- I just think its kind of sad that people can settle for that.

There is no evidence there is a God so logically God does not exist. The burden of proof is on those who claim God exists. It would be like me asking you to provide evidence Santa Claus or any other fictional character doesn't exist. Try, you can't do it.

Well there is no evidence there is a god. That is proof there isn't. If you believe in things with no evidence boy do I have a deal on some property in Florida that you would love. I don't have a deed or anything, but it's be cool.

Evolution only disagrees with the Bible. To me that certainly means the Bible isn't the "word of God" or he would have gotten it right.

The complete lack of evidence that a god exists is evidence that a god of the christian form most likely does not exist. The poor quality of the bible, with its ridiculous translations into other languages. is evidence that a god of the christian form does not exist.

What overwhelming evidence that God doesn't exist? Spirituality exists, as does the human need for the concept of God. Without the idea of there being more to life than what we have evidence for, we are empty shells with no purpose. Surely billions of people believing in this concept is overwhelming evidence that God does exist in one form or another.

There is no evidence that A god or gods doesn't exist. But the burden of proof is on theists--until they provide evidence that a god DOES exist, the only rational way to go is to assume non-existence, same way we do with invisible gnomes.

But as for God, the Christian god, I have this to say:

==============

I can say with 100% certainty that God (capitalized to mean the Christian god), as Christians define him, doesn't exist. I can say this because God, as he is defined, is a self-contradiction, and a self-contradiction can't exist.

Example: one can also say with 100% certainty that a square with 21 sides does not exist. Not because one has searched every iota of existence without finding it, but because a 21-sided square is impossible, being a self-contradiction. Same thing with someone who weighs 150 and 250 pounds at the same time--another self-contradiction that can't exist.

I'm going to prove that the Christian God is a self-contradiction like the examples above, and therefore ALSO can't exist:

The Christian God is defined as perfect, and also as a creator (it isn't really important what God created or didn't create, just that he created something). To be perfect is to be complete. To be complete is to lack nothing. Desire can only exist when there is a lack of something (that something is what is desired). Therefore, since God is perfect, he desires nothing. Since he desires nothing, obviously he would not desire to create anything. A perfect being would do nothing but exist, because actively DOING something would imply a desire (to do whatever it is), which a perfect being cannot have by definition.

Therefore, an entity who is both perfect and a creator is a self-contradiction that cannot exist, just like a 21-sided square. Since Christians define their god this way, one can say with absolute certainty that this god does not, indeed, cannot exist.
