I had the same misconception about us humans that chose going to church. None of us is perfect, or ever will be, or treat you as royalty when you walk in the door. What happens though, is a bonding, (hopefully,) that you need Jesus just as much as the people who have been at that church for ten or more years.....

Feeling that bonding with other people who openly confess what they haven't lived up to, should have done better at, or whatever, gives you a chance to pray together so that way you can live up to the promises that God has for you.

I am so sorry for how many people live today, without conscience, morals, values, etc. Christians aren't perfect, they have those values though and the teamwork that it takes to help each other break through their own vices in order to let other people know more about God. That is the goal, not being perfect, but letting other people know about God.

It took a great husband taking me to church after church before I saw how it is supposed to work. Take your time and find the right church for you. Don't close your mind to it, then you sound almost like an atheist asking this question.......

Because just like everyone else they are not perfect. They may call themselves Christians and really may have missed the mark and are not. Some are immature Christians and never really study Gods Word. They just show up in church and think that is all they need to do .

Everyone is a hypocrite one time or another and to say that you never have been would be a lie.

Therefore, we are to ask forgiveness and keep trying to grow in God's Word so that we don't do that again.

Some people are hypocrits, pointing and gossiping at other's faults, flaws, and misdeeds. Why do they do this? Think Matthew 7;3, because they can't see very well with all the sin and flaw, and misdeeds clouding their OWN vision. It's nothing new, it's right there in the Bible that it is a HUMAN problem, not a Christian problem. People are inclined to do that for a greater distraction from having to explain and be held accountable for their misdeeds.

Kind of how your are doing when you point at Christians.

Have you ever seen a hypocrite atheist? of course not. They are not trying to be something they are not. They are unsaved rebels and they know it. they feel no need to change. Christians are just saved rebels, they are trying to change their ways. So they go to church. We are all sinners and we need to grow in Christ. Church is like a rehab for sinners. (Hi i'm Joe and I am a sinner.) We mess up sometimes and we have to ask forgiveness because God offers that to us. Why do the sick go to the hospital? to get well. That is what we are trying to do. Some are sicker than others. Hope this helps.

Because the main reason for religion in this country is EXPLOITATION. Think of how Christianity was spread throughout the Americas. The Catholic church made converts of indigenous people via force. You either converted or died. What happened to that free-will nonsense they teach us today?

In days of old, religion was administered to the people by those who could read and illiteracy was about 95%. So if you can't read, those who introduced you to God could tell you anything about him (truth or lie-how were you to know?). Remember, religion was also used to control the slaves in this country. It was against the law to teach them to read and the punishment for a reading slave was DEATH. Why didn't they want them to read? Because the story of them getting theirs in the promise land would've seemed like ******** if they could have read the book themselves.

Western religion has always been used as a tool to control, subjugate, and manipulate the masses. Catholic ceremonies are still, to this day, conducted in Latin. Who speaks Latin? Well in ancient Rome only the elite. Language and religion, throughout western history, have always been used as instruments of control.

Lastly, religious leaders in this country made a deal with the government-if they keep the people passive, they don't have to pay taxes. If you look at all the mega-rich tele-evangilists, they really aren't pious people. They're capitalist and their business of choice is religion.

Marx basically said that "religion is the opium of the people". And what he means is, religion is like morphine for a terminally ill cancer patient. It won't cure the cancer but it will definitely alleviate some of the pain. Attend any church service today and listen to the advice given by clergy, none of it solves any of its congregations problems, but it definitely puts butts in the pews.

It is better that hypocrits are at church where they can hear the Word of God and be guided towards integrity.

If you are looking for a church in which all of the members are perfect, then are you going to leave when you sin?

The same reason there are so many hypocrite non- Christians outside the Church: We are all sinners. Unfortunately it's easier to be a Christian hypocrite than a non-Christian one.

At least they are there. Better for them to be in church than to be at home. I don't let them bother me. It's when the pastor is a hypocrite that I have a problem with the church.

well there are hypocrites everywhere, but the reason so many "Christians" are hypocritical is because they take what the read in the bible over board. A perfect example would be homosexuals. They claim it is a sin to be gay. BUT it is also a sin to judge others. Most people do judge homosexuals unfairly just because they think the Bible says it's wrong.

Churches are full of people, period.
Young people, old people. Mature and baby Christians. What you see as hypocritical might be someone learning to walk with maturity. Why judge them? At the very least, they are there, and that is a beginning.

I often wonder if what we consider to be hypocritical, is just our judgment seeping through?
