Christianity is an umbrella faith with certain basic principles. The faith is based mainly on the idea that Jesus, the son of God, came down from heaven and died to save us from sin. The three main reasons for divisions in Christianity are disagreements in oral tradition, disagreements in interpretations of the Bible, and different facets of worship.

Because for hundreds of years it has been translated and copied so many times, by hand, that occassionally translations came out differently.

In addition, some people can read the exact same lines and interpret things in various ways, right?

Some religions only acknowledge the Old Testament and not the New Testament as sacred text (Muslims, for example).

Many people interpret the Bible very differently. They don't read the Bible as a whole and only pick and choose what fits them.

These are some of the causes of division.

they have drifted away from what Yeshua/Jesus was doing at that time and have had the hands of man all over it. They have shifted and interpreted scripture to fit what they want it to be instead of what God intended it to be from the beginning, The multitude of denominations have been created by theogical (often twisted) ideologies. You have asked one of the most intellegent questions i've seen. We need to take fresh look at the Bibile in the context and time in which it was written. They also need to not be afraid of the fact that Jesus/Yeshua the redeemer was "Jewish". God bless you.

The Bible is not one text. Its 66 books.

Some people put more emphasis on this book, others that book, others a human leader like the Pope.

And that is why.
